Originally presented in the 1840's Vienna by Johann Hofzinser, Father of Card Magic.

Great ideas are never forgotten; never out dated; never pushed aside.

Today we celebrate Johann Hofzinser with the release of Hofzinser cards. The Hofzinser card is a diabolical gaff from the 19th century that allows you to conjure an extra layer of deception to your performance.

Things aren't always as they seem. Appearances may deceive you.

Hofzinser Cards are subtle, visual, and simply put: brilliant. Without words or sleights, Hofzinser cards can powerfully convince the spectator that the card of interest is merely a random card.

Our version of the historic gaff is handcrafted in Canada by Jeremy Hanrahan and reflects superior quality. Each set is packaged in an envelope made of imported French paper and finished with a wax seal. Traditionally, the cards have sold for $15 a piece - we're giving you THREE gaffs for $19.95!

Three cards are included with EACH purchase. Timeless, classic, and practical, Hofzinser Cards are a must have for any committed professional.

Fun trick to try. Simple but yet deceptive.

I would have appreciated some ideas on how to better utilize the effect but they are well constructed and allow the imagination to run.

The manufacture of these cards is perfect! Light really shows a convincing “other” card! Although the orientation is off, it would take another person who knows the trick to recognize that something is amiss. Psychologically, even though I know it’s off, my brain still wants to tell me it’s that card that I see through the light!

Very nicely built gaff! Had a lot of fun getting a plain deck of red Bicycle's and replacing those cards in the deck! I was able to build and use the same deck for multiple tricks. The gaffs really help spice it up when you are doing a little impromptu 'night-on-the-town' trickery!

What a great item. I am so excited to use this gaff card, easy to imagine a routine. I have been waiting for this and now I am ready to perform. Great quality and easy to use.

Lovely gaffs. Great that they come in a set of three for this price. Although the concept is easily adapted and versatile, examples of how to incorporate them into a routine would have been appreciated. Fun to have in your magic gaffs collection.

I know very little about magic, but these helped me quickly develop some tricks to dazzle my kids.

Pretty nice cards, if you don’t even use the cards in a effect they are great to add to your card and magic collection.

I really love these cards. The reveal gets fantastic reactions, the only difficulty with these is finding a decent narrative to tell your audience to justify their use. Other than that, the trick is amazing, just be careful about where you're shining the light!

Fun trick to do and the gaff is well constructed but if you know anything about cards you quickly notice the pips are on the wrong side and they are 'backwards' when they are shining through. You have to really play this one smoothly and quickly to get it past a smarter spectator, great to play a little guessing game with the nieces and nephews though. Also if you aren't careful with your light source you will shine the actual card value and markings so be careful there.

Beautifully made gaff cards, packed in a nice little sealed envelope. You're supposed to add them in your own routines, but I would have loved to get a few ideas in the package.

Beautiful cards which slip seamlessly into a revelation or change based routine. As with most products I have purchased through Theory11, the craftsmanship is superb!

This is the one I do on those special occasions only and it kills every time. Definitely a must.

This gaff is amazing, I received three different cards and comes in a very nice envelope. It puts any of your card tricks on steroids, it gives that extra punch. You can mix it with so many card tricks. Highly recommended.

I used this at a company party at night, out on the patio where there was a very cool stone table with a candle bowl in the center. Surrounded. Because the candle was the main source of light, the effect was especially eerie. It killed. There are many applications for this prop. Check out John Guastaferro's McDonald's Aces routine from One Degree, Vino Aces, for excellent inspiration.

I agree with Don's (NY) review. Two of the cards I received had noticeable dark imperfections (that aren't pips) in the white borders. They just look like spots. Also, once the card is removed from the light, and tossed onto the table face up, you can still make out the "shadowy pips" coming through. So, I will just have to get it back into the deck, or pocket the card. Aside from this, these are very deceptive and don't mind the added 'work' for the ultimate result. Although 4 Stars on this one, I'm glad that someone has finally made a set of these foolers.

These cards are some of the most well made products I've ever purchased (as far as hand crafted ones go). They are beautiful, deceiving on an almost criminal level, and have endless possibilities. Worth every penny. The only reasons I did not give them five stars are: 1. You only get three cards. Why aren't they available as a complete deck? 2. Of the three cards, I received two of the same ones. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but at the price they sell for, I would've much preferred three different ones. 3. While even an intermediate level card worker could come up with a handful of ideas for using the cards, none are included with them. Despite my issues with how they are sold and/or packaged . . . HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I was lucky enough to get a matched set for Christmas. I love using these for my take on Everywhere and Nowhere.

The cleverest and most deceptive gimmick which can be used anytime, anywhere, without any setup.

This is the best card trick in the world! It's better than the invisible deck.

These are magnificent! They are incredibly easy to incorporate into MANY tricks and can even lay idle during others. These are probably one of the best gaffs I have ever incorporated, which I usually try to stay away from. Reveals on these are, if properly presented, jaw-dropping. Even the most skeptical of crowds and onlookers walk away stunned. Well worth the money! I only wish I could buy a full deck so I can swap cards at will.

Any chance that Jeremy will start making them "correctly" as Don mentions in his review, i.e. with the indices and small pips reversed in the opposite corners to remove the illogicality of these?
