Distortion is an extremely visual, impossible illusion that your spectator will always remember. The method of the gimmick is fairly easy to the point you can make your own if you wanted. This is something extremely powerful because it is one smooth routine with a lot of surprises. This is one of the most classic effects in card magic, but it for sure never gets old. The dvd instruction is also brilliant!

I've had my eye on this illusion for a while. Even before signing up as a member here i wanted this illusion, i gotta say i am very happy with it and the tutorial is great with lots of crowd control tips and sleight guidance. Definitely light sensitive but I'm a time and environment oriented person so it's no prob for me, also I must say it is much simpler designed than I was assuming and it actually had me constructing some wacky gimmicks of my own that are worth mentioning yet but thank you to distortion for inspiring some new prototype development based off of this concept! And thank you to theory11 for getting my package to me before Xmas weekend even though I only ordered on the 18th! You helped me amaze and entertain a lot of friends family and randoms alike thanks to your extra help on shipping.

Solid trick and the gimmick is neat. The teaching is nicely done and quite thorough. Only downside is that the gimmick is fairly visible in the wrong conditions. Other than that, it's a great piece of visual magic.

This trick is amazing, creative, and unusual. Most people flip out when I perform this. Wayne does a very thorough job of teaching in the video. However, at first the gimmick tends to be hard to manipulate and I was scared I was going to break it. Also, do not carry it in your back pocket for any extended amounts of time. I did this once and now the gimmick is a bit scratched up.

Great effect and gets some amazing reactions from a spectator. Their mind is blown when the card turns into another card.

This has gone straight into my repertoire. It's that good! Wayne teaches a great, streamlined routine utilizing the gimmick, but the gimmick really speaks for itself. The change is visual, slow, deceptive, and easy. I love it, laymen LOVE it, and other magicians dig it as well. Such a great effect. A must buy for anyone.

THE TEACHING: I have yet to find a trick by W.H. that he doesn't explain well. He's a great teacher and explains things very well. THE GIMMICK: It will take just a little time getting used to and getting a comfortable handling on as does any effect. I think you do, as many have said, need to be cautious about the type of lighting you perform this in. Requires only beginner's level sleight of hand to hand out cleanly. THE OVERALL EFFECT: On this DVD you'll receive a couple different variations on the effect that you can utilize. So far, I have used the basic demonstration and received some good reactions.

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this yet. I bought this back in 2007. Distortion has become one of my signature pieces. People always come up to me and ask me to do the moving diamond trick. Wayne is an awesome teacher, the gimmick is clever and effective. Only downfall of the gimmick is that, depending on the lighting, the gimmick could possibly be exposed. Still great though. Definitely recommend!

Got this as a gift from a friend. Created an account just to write this review. This trick is AMAZING! It's very simple, but very powerful, and the DVD covers everything you need to know, from how to take care of the gimmick, to how to perform the trick without any flaws. It covers everything needed to perform without any issues. Wayne Houchin is, as always, a great tutor for his tricks. This trick leaves everyone speechless, and begging to inspect the deck. That's covered as well, you can hand out both cards and the deck for FULL inspection. All in all, AMAZING!

Well designed gimmick and excellent teaching by Wayne himself! The effect is easy to perform and BLOWS PEOPLE AWAY. Highly recommended.

The gimmick is awesome, but the light could be a problem in some cases.

Wow! The reactions I get with Distortion are simply unmatched. Spectators have been inundated with card transpositions for ages, but when they see the card change in front of their eyes, they lose their mind. I subtracted one star because the gimmick (while being very well made) doesn't work as smoothly as I'd like and has worn down over time. The good news is you can order a replacement. All in all, this trick is amazing!

Immense. Better gimmick than anything I found on the internet and allows you to finish cleaner, however you do need to be wary of lighting conditions.

Smart gimmick, great move. I like the variations also - easy to perform. I'm taking it on the road while traveling in Mexico this month. Wayne, keep em' coming! Hopefully the gimmick will last for a while.

I saw this as a spectator and I must say this is a very overrated effect. The change is amazing, but when he puts the 6 behind the Deck, the whole thing lost it's effect because u can only see 2 diamonds, not the ones that moved. Then you can't give out everything for inspection like the ad says, you have to change it, which involves sleight and the trick then becomes something for more advanced users. I like Wayne. I liked Stigmata, he's a good teacher and this trick is an OK trick, but 4 1/2 stars it's not. A magician with slight of hand and a gaffe deck can do things better in front of people and let them touch the cards. I would not recommend this trick for beginners.

This is by far the greatest card trick I've ever bought. It has so many possibilities, and I'm already amazing people with this trick. I'd highly recommend it.
