I am going to share with you an experience I had that I will never forget, it was at the beginning of July and was possibly one of my most valuable magic experiences. I am talking about my radio appearance where I did my first live radio headline prediction.

The story:
This had nothing to do with my magic at first, I wanted to help raise awareness for Darfur using something I loved. I emailed the host of the morning show on CJAD 800 (www.cjad.com) and told him about what I was doing. Initially I asked him to simply give a "shout out" but a few days later, his producer called and asked me to appear on the radio to do some magic and talk about my cause. I was thrilled, never in my life did I think I would be on the radio doing magic.
I have always been interested in headline predictions and immediately had many ideas come to mind, ultimately I used the "Glass Box Prediction" by Devin Knight & Al Mann. I figured it was the best to use for what I was doing. I had an extra month to prepare for my endeavour and little did I know, D-Day was creeping in FAST. The week before I dropped off the prediction at the station and that action was announced on the radio. Soon enough I was sitting in my room shaking from head to toe on the eve of the show.
I woke up to my dad shaking me at 5 am, bewildered I climbed out of bed, took some insulin, and ate breakfast, the whole time shaking with nervousness. It was incredibly difficult to eat. I was finished, grabbed the newspaper and a mug full of coffee and got in the passenger seat of my dad's car. The entire ride was as if I was in a -40 degree chamber, I was unable to control the shaking.
The show:
As I arrived at the station, the jitters began to recede. I was escorted to the studio by the producers and I took a seat in front of the host during a break. We talked a little but sooner than later he said to be quiet as he introduced me. It all came so fast, so I got my cards out and got ready to speak. This was all such a blur, I wish I had a video camera to show how much I was sweating and shaking, but luckily the words came out normally. I had him select a card and right then, all of the shaking stopped, this happens every time I go out and perform, once the magic starts, the shaking stops.
After the news, it came time for the prediction, I thought to myself:
"What the hell did I get myself into?"
I didn't think it would work, but as we opened up the box and reached in and removed each paper at a time, it all came together. I revealed his card, then I read the paper, (the shaking came back) and I removed the last slip of paper to show the headline clearly written down. A sense of relief hit me like a tidal wave, I looked at the controller to our right and he looked as if he was going to pass out.
I then realized, that I would have to explain myself for a thousand car accidents to the people who passed out on their way to work.
This was a great experience, I got so many calls after that from people wanting to know more about my cause. Unfortunately, I did not win the contest but started a charity organization.
I would like to stress something though, please after reading this don't think that you can purchase a headline prediction and go on the radio. This was the hardest and most grueling tasks I've ever done in magic. You won't know what you got yourself into, I was barely ready and I have been working on headline predictions for 2 years. Which I think isn't enough time, but luckily everything worked out.
Hope you enjoyed my story!
