Hey guys,
I have this problem where after I finish a trick for my friends and after their initial reactions the scene gets awkward. I don't know how to go from performing to not performing without an lapse. SEND HELP!!!!!!

It sounds like, based on what you've said, that you don't control your performances or your audience very well. It sounds like they're not sure whether you're going to perform more or whether you're finished, or how to behave. You have to take control and make it clear either way. If you want to perform more, do it - keep the conversation going. If you don't, make it clear that you've finished. Your last effect should be a crescendo. They should be talking afterwards - and you can let them and go wherever the conversation naturally goes.

After hitting them hard with your closer....I normally thank them for allowing me to share some magic with them.

At that point, I normally pull out a few of my business cards and hand them out saying that I am available and please check out my website.

If it is just for your friends or family, then that is a little bit different, as they know who you are and probably have seen your website. So in that case I just thank them and say something along the lines of, "I'm really working hard on some new material that I can't wait to show you at our next family function / gathering...whatever. Very casual and they understand that you are done for now.

Or, allow the last effect to happen in the spectators hands so that they receive the applause and then say, "Thank you, didn't Mikey do a great job."

vanish yourself...tata!!

if it`s a family gathering then I say "thank you, I am glad ypou enjoyed the show...now I need to eat something" since it`s casual and among friend and family...

In serious environment I usually say something like "thank you all!! I hope you enjoyed the show, my name is Luis Vega and I wish you all a great night!!"
