So i bought 3 of the Blue Monarch decks on amazon. I tried purchasing them online but i couldn‘t find a different site that is still selling them. I received them with the seal and everything but instead of a double backer, i had 2 ad cards that had the same text printed on them, but just in a different writing style (like kursive etc). I wanted to know if there simply isn‘t a double backer in later editions or if that is an error in production

I'm pretty sure that this has to do with the runs that are available to the general public. I could be wrong. It hasn't always been the case but they have removed the double backers from many of their runs to avoid confusion with laymen who buy the decks, and to avoid exposure.

Many newer printings of our cards do not have double-backers. It depends on a lot of factors. Not containing a double-backer is NOT a defect or a production error. Most Monarch printings these days do not contain double-backers, and we do not specifically advertise double-backers in any of our decks.

The Monarch deck is one of the best selling decks on the planet, and this means it is in the hands of lots and lots of non-magicians - likely far more non-magicians than magicians. Double-backers don't make sense to non-magicians, so that is taken into consideration when we print. Also, the fact that double-backers are one of the easiest gaff cards to make plays a bit into our decision. If you learn how to split cards, you can make 25+ double-backers from a single deck of cards. Blake Vogt shows you how to split cards in his Marketplace releases below.

I get that... But why would printing 2 ad cards be more productive even for non magicians? Yes ur decks are on of the best i totally agree. And I understand ur argument for not making double backers for later released decks. But 2 ad csrds, in my opinion, is not he way to go, if they were different in terms of the text thats printed on them it would be, nut iI opened my blue monarchs before my green ones and didnt even know it had a diuble bacler in prwvious releases, and still felt scammed about it. And if one person feels that way than many others do too probably including some if my friends. It just feels unnatural to habe 2 of them in one deck.

People can give them away to friends who see their deck and want to know where they can get one too. We don't want our ad cards to be big, obnoxious, flashy advertisements. We aren't really pushing the advertisement end of this much at all. These cards really are just for passing along to friends. The person who owns the deck doesn't need the ad cards to know about our decks, haha.

As I said, we do not advertise anywhere that any of our decks carry double-backers. If you get one in your deck, awesome! Enjoy the free bonus. There is no scam here in any way, shape, or form.

I don‘t really feel like that‘s a good enough advertisement since all you really need from the advertising card is the name of the webpage but anyway iI get that constructive critisism is not really takien well here, instead I just get a weak statement about the use of the 2nd advertising card... not really usedul at all if you aleeady have one nowadays but y. Thanks anyway.

Hey Mistgun,

We absolutely do take constructive criticism, we listen to it all and apply it when possible. You were asking why we made the printing choices we did, and I told you why we chose to do what we did. This is not us refusing criticism, it was answering your questions. Your concerns are noted, and will likely come up the next time we print a deck that does not have double backers.

Now that we have seen some criticism of the non-constructive variety ("I get that constructive critisism is not really takien well here, instead I just get a weak statement about the use of the 2nd advertising card... "), I am closing this thread. Feel free to direct any further questions directly to our support team at theory11.com/support. We are happy to jump into discussions in the forums to personally interact with forum members and to answer questions so long as the discussion remains respectful. We are ending this thread here to make sure it stays respectful.
