Real magic ascends above the reach of exposure. Real magic is YOUR magic.

Exposure is a problem, but a VERY small one. These people with the TV show surely are teaching magic effectively and the way it is supposed to be done...

...ironically, helping to combat the BIGGEST problem in magic--

--Poorly done magic.

If some people would get off their lazy butts and actually study magic like they would in school and college, then magic would be MUCH different. Instead, there's only a handful of magicians in the world, and everyone else is some "addicted to instant gratification" trickster with a rich mommy and daddy, or so craved for attention from anybody that they can't be bothered with the ONE thing that is the CAUSE of ALL their problems, INCLUDING their poorly done magic.

Respect.

that's my life's message. In one post. Period end of story. 100% right. agreed good sir. Let's make it everyone's mission to help kids starting in magic do this. he only way to help the art is by taking a proactive role. BE a role model or tutor to another magician.

I'd have to agree. Most people out there who call themselves magicians are not. They are instead someone who read a script and practiced the trick for 20 minutes. They assume once they memorize the steps, it's done with. I always tell new magicians to honor what I call the three ps': Practice, personality and patter you tailored for you. It can turn an everyday trick into an amazing effect. If this show is making sure people interested in magic are going about it the correct way, I'm all for it.

but there is some precautions you have to take before teaching someone into magic, if someone just says "Dude, magic is so cool, I always wanted to do it, could you teahc me some of your tricks?" or something like that, chances are they are just wanting to know how magic works, curious people, you have to test them, by telling them something like "if you are serious about learning magic you should buy Royal Road to Card Magic, really good beginner book." If they don't buy it than they are probably not dedicated enough, and you can't really blame it on financial problems because it's only 10 bucks, but if they do have financial problems, then lend them your book and if they have a lot of the material down in some time, then they are dedicated and then seriously teach them
