Hey guys, I was wondering if you can legally sell your own homemade loops. I went a bit overboard tying my own iet bands. I'm asking this because I heard Jon Finn creator of loops has a utility patent on them?

Why don't you find him and ask him?

But given that multiple people sell their own brand of loops, I'm guessing that's bunk. Unless every single one of them is paying some kind of royalty, which I doubt.

You can sell them but the real question is - will anyone buy them from you? I don't know you from Adam and I have no reason to believe that any price you ask would be worth it. Not meaning offense, just pointing out that you don't necessarily have the reputation behind you to justify buying from you rather than an established entity such as Yigal Mesika, Nathan Kranzo, etc.

I was just implying that loops are really expensive in the long run and if could have 5 loops made by yigal mesika that aren't tied by him (most likely) for $10 or have ones tied by someone else with mesika elastics where you get 10 IET bands for 10 dollars, which would you choose and you would also be able to customize the sizes. It was just an idea. I did try to get a hold of Fin Jonn but it is apparently extremely difficult. Also, I'm not truing to start a business I just trying to sell a little surplus.

This has nothing to do with starting a business. It has everything to do with giving some random dude on the internet money and not being sure you'll get the product in return.

I'm not disagreeing with your premise at all. I'm just saying look at it realistically - why would I choose to give you money for something I can get from someone with a known reputation (And thus a consequence if the product sucks)? Furthermore, when it comes to loops - you've already realized it's pretty easy to tie your own. Most people who work with loops regularly do so. Those who don't tie their own are probably going to want to buy from someone they can trust through reputation.

See what I'm getting at? You could do this (as far as I know) - but you have to be aware of those things in order to pull it off.

This is not a good Idea.
I have my issues with the main manufacture of store bought IET Bands, (not Fin Jon) up to including today's email from him.
you are asking for email threats of being sued and letters from his attorney demanding a cease and desist or further legal action will be perused. this is just a headache waiting to happen!
I don't even sell pre-tied bands..... just IET, ways to tie your IET Bands and thread cases.

How is he able to do that. If I buy something shouldn't I be able to sell it considering it is my property now?

Not if you are not authorized to make them. It would be like asking if you could sell your own version of the Money Shot or Predichange gaffs.
