This is a good effect to perform. If you are on stage or even doing a stand-up show, you can actually have your back towards the audience and draw in real time on the sketch pad. Without exposing how the effect works, i'll just say it'll take some practice to get used to drawing, but with practice, you'll be able to do this without a problem.

I usually start drawing with the pad turned towards me facing the back of the room, and rotate so the audience can see me actually drawing the card.
