Cardistry help

Hey Whatssup guys. My name is Konta and I'm new into Cardistry, my second day practice. I've been practicing Fans and Charlier cuts.

However, I've come to a nearly progress stopping problem with both "tricks". For the charlier cut I have a problem with doing continuous cuts. I feel like I thumb is really short so it HAS to be in a specific area and after my first cut the entire deck moves down so I can't properly drop the lower packet in the correct space. I feel like this is due to my inability to properly re-straddle grip the deck after my first cut.

and This is the distance I ABSOLUTELY NEED in order to do a charlier cut. Any other position will not give me enough space to push the lower packet up.

How do I transition from the first picture to the second picture smoothly with one hand? Because of my short thumbs the position the decks to be in is literally at my fingertips.
It'll look like THIS if I start lower than my optimal location.


Also for my FANs in progress, the end always has a HUGE clump. It seems like there's not enough space for all of these cards. It looks like

I had the same problem with the one handed cut when I first started learning it. When you are finished doing the cut, you must stretch your index finger to the top of the deck, and also stretch your pinky finger to the bottom of the deck. You must then start to extend your pinky and index fingers, while simultaneously pulling down on the deck with your middle and ring fingers. This will give you the space for the cut. If you are still having troubles, I would reccomend using half the deck until you are really good. Now, for the fanning issue. The clumping is most likely due to an overused deck. Get a brand new deck, never even opened. Then try a fan. It should work after that. All decks will eventually clump. Once you get good at fanning, you will still be able to fan with some older decks.

It's actually a new deck. I just bought it today. On my first day of cardistry I just used Vanguard trading cards lol.

Try not to apply to much pressure while doing the fan. Have a light touch.
