I know smoking is a bad habit and I have actually quit once before. Unfortunately something in my life made me go back, but I plan on quitting again soon. In the mean time, I was hoping you people could help me out with suggestions on what cigarette effects to buy, whether it's a dvd, book, gimmick, etc. Loads of people smoke these days so even when I quit I can still perform. Plus I love the fact that it is a very common, everyday item so if you're an impromptu kind of person then it would behove you to learn it as well. Thank you in advance! :D

well I think carmagic12345 is wrong there are many effects of cCigarettes that can be performed wathever you somke or not because you never light the cigarett, well I recomend you quit somking of david stone, its and easy effect and you never light a cigarett and its cool!, also if you want other effects , many more effects, you wanna buy Tom Mullica's Expert Cigarette Magic Made Easy, its quit amazing, their are many effects, and many technics...well I hope I have helped you...

there's a pretty good torn and restored cigarette trick on 'inside magic' you can pick that up from Ellusionist. it was invented by Slydinni i think. there are also a lot of other great effects on it that don't all use cards. sponge ball routine is pretty good.

it's worth a look

if you want to learn palms, vanishes, etc. i would recommend "The Encyclopedia of Cigarette Tricks" by Keith Clark. i would also recommend David Stone's "Quite Smoking" ... i was looking for as much as i could find on Cigarette magic as well for a while and expanded my search to other items that are related to cigarettes like matches, lighters, cigarette boxes, etc.... just thought you might want to keep those options in mind as well.

Quit smoking? No one likes a quitter. :p

Anyways, the suggestions here are good. You can also get a nice pull that you can put a lit cigarette in to do a vanish. Its dirt cheap and very effective... just remember that you can't give it back.

I do most of my cig sleights with lit cigarettes... people always say you can do them with unlit ones, and you can, obviously.. but I like to walk up to people who are smoking and say "Lemme see your cigarette..."

Yeah Flare is a fantastic effect

I would also recommend Ron Jaxon's Cidsational, it allows for some great cig effects such as a T&R where you can see both parts of the cig in view

Also Marc Oberon has a great little routine in his lecture notes where a cig and lighter keep disappearing etc ev time you try to light a cig

Ron Jaxon also has another cig routine where the filter keeps hopping to the opposite end whenever you put it in your mouth... there is a dif version of this also in Cigsational which I mentioned previously

Rabid Out

There's also this nice Criss Angel routine, http://youtube.com/watch?v=f0keGHHtum8, but I'm not sure where one can learn it.

Further, there's a neat trick during which the magician places a lighted cigarette on his hand, but the spectator ends up getting the aftereffects of it -- I read it in a book, not sure what it's called.

Cheers,
JTM
