Hey guys I was wondering what is a good method of cleaning sponge balls? After many performance of my sponge ball routines I realize that the sponge balls have been collecting oils from people's hands so I want to clean them so I not giving germs to a spectator.

I just use regular dish soap like DAWN and water and you will see a little bit of color fade out but you'll also notice it "revives" if you will, the sponge so that it feels really nice and soft again.

I recommend Steve Darci's immersion method. That's the best part of Spongeball Toolbox.

But seriously, what Rick said. Number of performers recommend wetting the spongeballs couple of hours before performing. They are bigger and more visible. The sponge tend to bleed a lot the first time but no so much after that.

Wetting only works on Super Soft sponges. They will plump up. Chris Lyle has a video on YT about cleaning sponge balls. Use some soap and water but don't use hot water as it will fade the sponges' color severely.

Honestly after a while you should just buy some new ones if you use them a LOT.
