Truth be known, there's not a HUGE difference between the majority of close-up pads in that price range. Granted, you can get much nicer ones and there will be a difference in quality, however, particularly if it's your first one, I would think it would be fine.

The brand that I bought with my first one was:
http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=1468

That particular one is out of stock. If you call penguin and ask them the difference between them, they should be able to give you a comparison.

Another option is the Apollo pad. It was once sold by Ellusionist, but is no longer carried by them as far as I know. While it was more expensive, I don't think there's really THAT significant of a difference.

Of course, the end-all/be-all of close-up pads is the one attached to the Close-Up tables by www.subdividedstudios.com . It was once endorsed by Justin Miller, however him and Sebashtion (maker of the table) went different ways...it's still phenominal, but in a price range all its own.

Again, for someone buying their first close-up pad, the one you've selected should be more than fine.

Hope it helped.

Is there anywhere I could buy the Apollo Pad now?

Thanks,

I think you can get them, or a very good equivalent, at "wizard headquarters" just google or ebay wizard HQ. they have really good ones at fair prices.

They're all the same, but from different places.
I have one cause I got 154 dollars in amazon git cards from a search and win site and its a mousepad, but its basically a huge mousepad for your desk and it works great as a close up pad.

Best close up pad that I have ever felt is the one that E sells.
I have two of them, and when I get a house of my own, I'm going to carpet the whole place in them. They feel so good.
