I recently purchased a new cam so me and my friend decided to try it out and edit something together.

We experimented around and put together a few clips.

Please give any feed back you feel is necessary (that includes editing!)

Enjoy :)

I can tell you've practiced a lot, that was great! I don't do coin magic, so I can't give advice there. Nor do I do a lot of editing, so I can't help there either lol. I can say though, that I really enjoyed it and think it's a job well done!

Thanks a lot Jacob, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Nice of you to drop by the coin magic forum, maybe you have a secret passion for coins lol.

Haha possibly. I mess around with them, but I don't have anything to learn from, so I just practice rolling it across my fingers haha

Nice job. I do have a few comments. Why are you doing what you are doing? Meaning, what are you doing to motivate each transfer? The problem with most coin magic is that you do it because you can. That's not motivated enough to the do a transfer, vanish, etc. Ever move should have a reason for it. I struggle with this, as do most coin magicians. Do you have a patter? or are you just showing off? Audiences don't like being fooled. They want to know what is going on. If you just do handwashing (which you did very well, by the way!) they will become frustrated. Hence why it's important to have a reason you are doing something. Then the spectator doesn't just think you are trying to fool them. As Darwin Ortiz says in his book Strong Magic, you don't want to pose magic as a challenge. This becomes the issue when you just show coin stuff.

I hope you take what I said as constructive. Your sleights are very good. your muscle pass is great as well. And it seemed you used it well. Oh, and nice ramsey's subltety! Very deceptive. Good work!

Chris you bring up some very good points, I think everyday about the patter for the routines and your right its very hard! I became accustomed handwashing because after a vanish theres was always someone who was like "i bet its in his other hands" - thats probably my fault though, and I would say "look its completely gone" (while handwashing) and that would convince them its gone.

For the muscle pass I do a bit of a joke "for the next effect I'm assuming you've all seen a coin fall up before" (while doing the muscle pass), "no?" "here ill do it again, watch closely" "its actually quite simple to do" (do another muscle pass), "you still look a bit confused, here hold your hands out"
Then do coin on top of there hand "look the coins traveled up and through your hand" on shoulder of another person "oops this one went a bit wrong, it actually landed on your shoulder", pretending to teach them the move.

I do get a lot of good reactions when performing coin magic but I will have to be more creative with my patter to motivate my actions.
Thanks for your comment. : )

As said before, you are very good with coins. I've learned that with coin magic, is all about the little things, the little subtleties that are out there, and I'm not talking about Ramsay or Kaps/Malini. I'm talking about the little things that make the routine THAT much better. All the good coin magicians know the little stuff and do the litte stuff well.

Congrats on getting this far my man. A lot have started and stopped due to the toughness of learning.

As for the handwashing, it certainly can be useful and works awesome at times, as you have already found out by performing (which I congratulate you for, as many don't do it. good work!). Sometimes it's good to do a vanish, and as the gaze moves towards the other hand (naturally this occurs), do something simple to make them think the other hand is empty. It can be better than moving your hands around (handwashing) because some spectators know something is up even though they didn't catch you do anything. In magic, knowing a move/sleight occurred is just as bad as flashing, in my opinion.

Keep up the good work man!

Hey Trycon!

I hope you don't mind these comments, they were what I was noticing while watching the video. Also, I don't know too much about editing or coin magic, so please disregard my ignorance.

First camera effect has been overused by too many people, I'd rather see a different one

There was another camera effect where, I think, the camera dims and the edges are blackened out, I thought that it was on for too long, and I also straight up don't like it.

Even though your (classic?) palm is fantastic; I still find it too obvious. Maybe it's cause I know about it that I feel it's so obvious.

Other than that, the moves looked pretty awesome to me! Especially the coin roll and retention vanish!

Also, I admire you to take on coin magic. For me, it's much harder than card magic. A lot of the moves are quite obvious for coin stuff, but when executed properly, it's impossible to tell where the coin(s) are.

Great job!

You don't have to be a film director to say a films bad. They weren't even bad comments lol

I didn't know that sorry, I haven't watched that many vids, but thanks for letting me know!

Ill be honest I didn't like it either!! My friend who filmed and helped editing was saying it doesn't look professional if you don't use effects... He put some even worse effects on but I made him change it, it was his mac that we were using though. I'm glad you posted that comment, ill show it to him! =]

Yes it is the classic palm, though maybe one places you might have mistaken it for the thumb palm? I didn't think it was that obvious, maybe I'm wrong I wouldn't mind hearing what other people think. Even so I think its a lot less obvious than others Ive seen :)

Thanks!

I find cards really hard :L Maybe thats because I'm addicted to coins.
