Crazy Performance

If any of you have seen Jonathan Bayme on the Kard klub DVD, you'll know what I'm talking about.

I had my cards in my hand and I walked up to a group of people in my year (a lot were my friends). One of them called over his brother, and asked me to show something to his brother.

I got preped for 2CM as he was walking along towards the group of people (10-15).

I performed it falwlesslly. It was completley clean, and there was abosolutely no suspicion of sleight of hand. The group went crazy, the reactions were just like j. Bayme's on Kard Klub.
It was really a remarkable performance. It was probably my best ever performance, my friend to a group of over 10 people.

I might be showing panic/stigmata tomorrow...

Just wanted to share my story :D

Congrats. Just some advice, I wouldn't show them something like Stigmata just yet. You have to plan ahead and realize if you show them such an insane effect this early on...you will have much less performance material. A lot of tricks are nothing in comparison to Stigmata and will become boring if you perform Stigmata now instead of waiting.

Have fun on future performances.

I agree - I think Invisible Deck next. :) But don't perform it yet. Build each effect up before you perform it - give it a couple of days. Let them get themselves hyped up, and by the time you're performing Stigmata, you'll have a huge crowd dying to see you perform.

I wouldn't perform Panic due to its angles if your going to be surrounded. I don't want to get too much into it fearing it would be exposure but since you own it you'll know what I'm talking about. Panic is good when you're looking head on to your audience. Try Silver dream or some metal bending also plant a card on someone early that you think he will be there when you perform and do a simple rubadub card vanish that always floors people. Remember just because Panic or some effects are great not all were meant for every situation. You have to exercise some control (OH there's a good one no pun intended) and decide whats best for audience control.

I actually have to disagree with Shane. If you have good control over your audience, Panic works just as well as any other trick. I have performed Panic 100% surrounded (I had to squat so the people behind me could see what I was doing), as the DVD teaches how to do this and there was no suspicion, since my crowd was already very much into the effects.

I would suggest going with the invisible deck next, but do not do it tomorrow; wait a couple of days and if asked, say that you are preparing something special for them. Also, it would be nice to do something like Here then There or the Biddle Trick, and then follow that up with a deck switch and do the Invisible Deck.

In either case, good work performing. Keep it up my friend.

Congratulations on your great performance!
Sounds like you did a great job.
I think panic is a great effect. I don't perform it much because I don't like gimmicks but the few times I have it's truly a great effect.
