You need to fill out every field with a * next to it. I believe that you fill out the credit card field so that you can store the credit card on your account, however I am not positive.
If you have any other questions, then submit a ticket and customer service will help you out!

You should since he's correct....

But, I recommend only signing up your going to purchase something now, and in the near future. It basically remembers all of your information when you sign-up and will allow you to complete your checkout rather quickly.

I suggest submitting a support ticket just to get a run-down from one of the support staff, if you still have any concerns.
