Well, Mr. Madison was definitely accurate in his comments when he said he was going a different route with his magic.

Personally, none of the plots described do much for me, but "variety is the spice of life," so I'm sure others will enjoy this. And in the hands of the right performer, I'm sure these effects will indeed be magical for an audience.
