You little stalker!
Hey, i've been looking around for an artist i really like (magic wise) in that their magic is smooth, visual, and powerful so i can buy a book or something from them so i can expand my knowledge more. My first choice was aaron fisher, however, his book The Paper Engine seems a bit too advanced for me i probably wont understand a thing. My second choice was daniel madison and i found he had a on of material in his trilogy of books (one, two, and three). But i really dont have the money to buy them all. So does anyone know which one is the best out of the 3? I 'm mainly looking for impromptu tricks. And also , if you recommend any other d+M stuff that has good magic then tell me. Thanks!

When I actually think about it, daniel madison's stuff isn't really geared for beginners-you have to know a lot of basic sleights really well. Sometimes he won't explain a sleight (like a DL or charlier cut) because he expects you already know it.
But the material on the trilogy is really good, just a lot of the tricks require setup(like dupes and stuff.)

I have One and III and I'd say One to be my favorite. III is chock full of stuff...but some things I don't like and (only one sleight this appys to I remember) some that have little/limited use. One has great tricks (Cameo would have to be my favorite) and I just seemed to like it more...and in that I'd reccommend it above III.

I own both one and three. One is mainly more trick oriented, while Three contains a good amount of slieghts. Both are very useful, but I think that One would be more beneficial to you. It has a great sandwich routine and some nice mentalism stuff. One also contains lapse, one of my favorite tricks to perform as of late as it screws with the mind very successfully :p.

I have Dangerous and it is my favorite DVD set (and this is to Greg Wilson, Jay Sankey, Tommy Wonder... ect.)

It isn't geared towards biggeners at all, but if you stick with it, it won't be that hard.

I don't know about his Trilogy, but Mystique on Dangerous isn't very difficult technically for the most part, it's fairly simple and just requires you to focus on presentation, only a few non-impromptu, mostly impromptu.

Mystique would be best for a begginer but as with all madisons stuff you do need to know basic sleghts. Although he runs over them more on the DVD than any of his books.
One is excelent! Really good tricks. a bit 'wordy' maybe, for examle I tried learning Lapse from One and couldn't, granted this is cause I'm a poor reader, but on MYstique it clicked so much better and is one of my fav effects.
Two I love the effects in here, out of the notes this is the best in my opinion!!!
Three, I'm not a fan of, only a handful of stuff I've taken from it! And I had my hopes to high I think. Also in total difference to One I think not enough words and explanations are poor.

I'd recomend Mystique though to you... probs my favourite magic DVD I've purchased, nearly every effect I do or would use! And I love watching Daniels performances! 5/5

Madison is my favourite artist and I just picked up Dangerous. Basically yeah, the mystique DVD would be a very safe bet, hard hitting visual tricks that aren't crazy hard. You will need good performance skills, presentation, misdirection etc, but then again that's all part of magic. I honestly can't recomend dangerous enough.

One also contains lapse, one of my favorite tricks to perform as of late as it screws with the mind very successfully :p.

Lapse has shot itsself up to being my favourite trick... It's just... Brilliant :D

Probably cause you're looking for tricks to take away, as you said in One man... Three is a huge number of interesting sleights, less tricks than One.

Guys, the reason i asked about his trilogy is that mystique doesn't look very good to me. If it was i would have got it a long time ago. There's not alot of material, a lot of tricks use gamblers cop, and it really doesnt appeal to me ask his ebooks. The only tricks i liked on there was lapse, angle zero, and half vanish. Well my friend performed angle zero to me and he sucked at it so i figured it out, and i don't really need lapse or half vanish to survive. so ya, mystique is out of the question.

Buy it. You will love it, regardless of if you know Angle Zero or anything. I use sooo much from that DVD.

I hated the idea of GAmblers cop, but to be honest I love the tricks and so I am willing to work on the tricks and performance to use the cop. DM does it so confidently and doesn't get questioned. It seems a great way to steal and use a card.

I think it scares a lot of people away and it really shouldn't...

Hmm. The debate about the cop is fairly old, I'd have to go with the for's and say just try it. To be honest, I don't like the cop as a move per se - but I use it in most performances, and I've never been caught by my spectators while the card is copped. No questions asked, when performed right, you won't get caught, although yes, it's not for every situation and yes, it is, on paper, risky.

As far as his Trilogy goes, One sounds like your best bet :)
