Derren Brown's The Devils Picture Book

Hello everyone.

Iv been a fan of derrens other work and im intrested in his dvd the devils picture book.

So i was wondering does anyone here have any experience with his material? How often do they work?

His out of this world sounds really intressting.

Hi fridoliina,
the material on the devils picturebook is second to none. If you like Derren Brown and his style of preformance then you will love this. I have had it for a while now and re-visit it regularly. All the effects work, I dont have the dvd in front of me at the moment but all of the effects are very clever and well thought out.
Nearly all of the effects taught are at least intermediate levels either skill wise or on a preformance level but they can all be worked on withoug getting frustrated.
I wish I could give you a bit more on the effects but the DVD is upstairs and im feelig a bit lazy today, it is a sunday!
I will have a go but this is coming from my head so feel free anyone to correct me with regards to effects/names.
Thes set is 2 DVD's, #1 conjuring and #2 psycological effects. some favorites of mine would be card under box, zamiels rose (very visual) and oil and water. Also out of this world and extreme mental effort. Cant forget the effect "smoke" which always gets a lot of talk.
Sorry I cant give you much more detail but you dont really need to know about every effect. All you need to know is that it is superb and you wont regret getting it. Dont ruin the surprise by finding out about every effect, just get it, sit back and enjoy.
I cant speak highly enough of the set, probably the best DVD I have purchased, I never get bored of having another look at it which is not something I can say about some of my collection!

Iv heard from someone that alot of material uses the pass? is that true? Im a quit experienced card magician but i never worked on the pass alot becaus i dont really like it.

Hey there,

Actually very little uses the pass and where he does utilize a pass, you could actually substitute in a double undercut. Either way their card is getting "lost" in the deck and both serve for the same purpose. It's a matter of personal preference.

But yeah, there's not really a lot of pass work in there. I'll see if I can get round to writing a review for you later.
