I'd say yes just because there are a couple of stick in the muds who take things too seriously. When I was in the Navy we had a cat aboard the sub I was attached to named Alfredo Garbonzo,we made him a crew member and someone even made him a set of silver dolphins and he became (unofficially) submarine qualified. If a cat can become a member of our elite military forces why can't a dog become an elite magician?
It's all in fun, get a sense of humor people.
