Hi guys, I've read a lot of posts asking what is the difference between Akira Fujii's Linking Cigarette and Lennart Green Impossible Penetration (Sold in this website). So, a week after I've purchased both effects, I'm going to write a review of both of them - at the same time.
THE EFFECT:
The basic effect is the same, but, as we know, LC is much more visual. Audience can watch the cigarette visually linking, as we can see on the preview video.
THE GIMMICKS:
No gimmicks or any setup of any kind are used in these effects, both of them are 100% impromptu and the objects can be borrowed.
THE METHODS:
I much more prefer LC. The method is so clever and amazing... You won't believe your eyes. It will take practice, specially when passing the cig through you thumb, but it is really worth mastering.
On the other hand, IP's method is not very practical. You will need a lot of practice for an effect that is not too visual.
POSSIBILITIES:
In both cases, you can't use any object of course. As we clearly can see, IP uses thin objects, such as matches or toothpicks (you cannot perform it with a cigarette), while for LC you'll need a cigarette (wasn't that obvious?), a small pencil or something.
DVD/DL:
LC: this video is about 12 min long, the quality is OK and the effect is very well taught, without speaking. There are written instruction in the video, what makes it a lot easier to learn. Akira teaches a bonus effect that uses the same principle.
IP: 3.5 min lenght, and almost 2 minutes are demos or credits. Lennart explains the basic method, no further ideas are given, and there's a clear lack of tips in the video.
None of the videos include live performances, but in Ellusionist or Penguin we've seen Akira performing for a little audience.
PRICE:
Linking cigarette is very expensive. I don't think that effect is worth 30 bucks, I think it should be sold for no more than 20. Regarding the classic effect, is just $5, but because of the lack of explanations, I don't think is worth buying.
If you have to choose just one of them go to penguin and purchase Akira's edition of the classic effect, you'll get good reactions.
Akira Fujii's Linking Cigarette:
Effect: 4/5
Method: 4/5
DVD: 3/5
Price: 2/5
Conclusion: 7/10
Lennart Green's Impossible Penetration:
Effect: 2/5
Method: 2/5
Video: 1/5
Price 4/5
Conclusion: 5/10
I hope this review have helped people who coldn't decide which one to buy!
If you want me to review any effect, PM me and if I have the trick, I'll review it ASAP!
Check out my revies of: Smoke, DGP 1-6, 5x Speed and Dresscode.
