Visual card magic at its finest. Chris Ramsay is a beast and I love him for it! Darkslide is a cool way to reveal a selected card with an instant flare of magic as it turns itself backwards inside a spread with just a pass of your hand.

Murphy’s has gone for a simplistic approach with packaging for this effect. I almost didn’t recognize it when I got my copy. A simple back envelope with gimmick and instructional video link. Packaging aside though this little gimmick is a worker! The gimmick is well constructed and should last quite a long time with proper care. Gimmick re-creation isn’t difficult and if you really had to you could make another if you wanted at home.

The video comes in at just shy of thirty minutes of solid instruction. Chris is easy to watch. And within just a few minutes you’ll know what you need to do. He teaches a force, and his handling, which you’ll get down quick.

Performing Darkslide is pretty damn fun. There is a moment where the card visually flips around and you can see the impact it has on the audience visually. It’s that shock and awe moment we all crave to get. It’s pretty angle proof, obviously, you don’t want anyone standing behind you, but how you position the cards with your body can block that view easy enough. Ideal for closeup, or strolling, and the reset is fast. The gimmick provided is for a red back bike deck, but you could probably make a gimmick for any deck you wanted easy enough. The only down side is that you’re going to have a gimmick card in the deck that you’ll have to ditch if you do anything else with cards, or you can always just deck switch. I suppose that works too. Overall though Darkslide is a solid hit! Check it out!
