A deck of cards is given to a spectator and they look at a card and memorize it. The deck is then handed to another spectator who does the same. Four spectators later the deck is returned to you, and one by one you call out the cards correctly that were chosen, and know who chose what card. The deck can be examined, there will be nothing to find!
I?ve been using a Tossed Out Deck (TOD) in my act now for some time. I love the effect. I love the drama, the build up, and the visual reveal when the audience sees all four spectators sit down at the exact same time. The only problem is? I can?t let my spectators handle my deck. Thank god that problem is no more with Patrick Redford?s Ninja Tossed Out Deck system! A full 52 card deck, fresh from sealed pack, just opened, and I can perform the trick that I love so well on the fly and with any deck of cards.
Redford?s Ninja system is in a word ingenious. I love magic tricks that offer the performer versatility, and flexibility in how they can be used. That?s obvious if you?ve been reading my reviews for any length of time because tricks like that generally score high overall, and this system is very flexible. There?s a lot going on within this system which means you can approach the performance from many different angles depending on A) how you want to perform it, and B) what the spectator(s) do during the performance. No matter what though the end results are still the same: The spectators selected cards are called out correctly, AND there is no cleanup, no deck switch, and nowhere for the spectators mind to go in order to explain what just happened.
The Ninja system relies on a gimmicked deck box construction that is easy to make. Patrick teaches you how to gaff any deck box you want, and the gaff believe it or not, is almost invisible. I?ve handed my gaffed box with deck inside to a magician friend and asked them to find the gaff, and after nearly 30 minutes of looking through every inch of the box and cards nothing was found that gave away the secret.
Practicality? This is a performers dream when it comes to a TOD. This can be done on stage, or in close up. You can perform in the round or just in front of people. There is no angles to worry about, and it works every time. This isn?t something you?ll be able to do just fresh out of the DVD though, and that?s the only downside to this marvelous system. This system will require you to take some time to learn it, work with it, and master it. It?s not impossible? but it?s involved and that?ll take time to get it down.
I can?t really go into too much detail without giving it all away so let me just say this: You won?t be disappointed. IF you can spend the time to master the system Patrick has come up with then you?ve got a powerful piece of magic in your hands. I love this DVD and this has quickly moved its way into something that I work on daily.
When I give my product scores below I am measuring them on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 Being absolute the worst score possible, and 10 being the absolute best, making a score of five average. The four points that I grade upon is Product Quality, Teaching Quality, Sound & Video Quality and Overall Quality.
Product Quality: 9
This product, honestly, should be priced higher. It?s too good to let go at just $35 dollars.
Teaching Quality: 9
There?s a lot to learn. Patrick is wonderful at teaching you. This material can be a bit dry in places, but overall it?s solid.
Video & Sound Quality: 9
The sound and video are both excellent.
Overall Quality: 9
Not only a versatile piece of magic perfect for stage or close up, but a reputation maker as well. Get this DVD and you?ll never do another version of the Tossed Out Deck again!
