Senses is a utility device that allows you to perform some of the most visual appearances and disappearances of coins, cards, and other small objects.
When I saw the demo video for Senses I knew right then and there I had to have this product. The vanishes, and appearances are beautifully visual and if everything actually was as practical from a performance perspective as the videos made them look I knew I?d have an exciting piece to add to my regular close up material.
The supplied material is the gimmick, the DVD, and a few souffl? cups typical to what you?d expect to find at just about any restaurant. With these simple items you can perform some of the most visual vanishes and appearances imaginable. The DVD shows work done with cards, and coins, but I think really anything small-ish, about the size of a half dollar would work. My personal favorite is the Senses basic routine where you hear and see a coin appear and disappear.
Coins though seem to be an issue with this product. Without giving too much away the routine works on a rattle box principle. I have tried the Senses routine using a silver walking liberty half dollar, a US quarter, and a Kennedy Half Dollar, and so far I am having the best results with the half dollar pieces. Getting the coins to stay quiet though does take some finagling. It?s move knacky and will take time and practice to get the coin into setup position in order to perform the sound vanish.
The quality of props, for being what they are, isn?t bad. They tend to hold up well over multiple uses, and practice. You?re supplied with three souffl? cups, and gimmick. At first this was kind of off putting to me because I felt that you could almost create a higher quality product for this effect if you really wanted to, but then it hit me. The reason why this works so well is the simplicity of the objects used. They are everyday objects people are accustomed to seeing, which makes the magic that much stronger. The reactions I?ve gotten from just performing the basic Senses routine for close friends have been amazing. Undoubtedly though, if you plan on performing Senses a lot you?ll eventually want to purchase more souffl? cups because they will breakdown with use. Good thing you can get a lot of them for cheap at just about any restaurant supply store.
The DVD is just about two hours of solid teaching, and Chris really does a wonderful job showing you how to construct the gimmicks, use them, and perform several different tricks based of his Senses concept. Well shot, and edited. This is one of those tricks that is just fun to play with as you watch the video. With some angle issues as an exception the material presented is very practical and will serve just about any close up performer?s repertoire. There?s actually enough potential with this product that an entire close up show could be constructed around just using this product alone.
When I give my product scores below I am measuring them on a scale of 1 to 10. 1 Being absolute the worst score possible, and 10 being the absolute best, making a score of five average. The four points that I grade upon is Product Quality, Teaching Quality, Sound & Video Quality and Overall Quality.

The souffl? cups themselves may be flimsy, and common but the potential for devastating magic is there. The DVD quality is good, instructional, and empowering. With a little work you?ll have this effect added into your working material in no time.
