What do you do when you drop a card, or two, or a few, or even the whole deck? Do you just shake it off and pick all the cards up without a word? Do you have a witty remark? Do you have a fancy way of gathering up all the cards? Please share your ideas. I would love to read them.

Cheers,
Shanku

They go over a few things in extreme beginners about what to do when you drop some cards

this all happens within seconds for me but:

I evaluate if the dropped cards are relevant to the trick, if not, go on. If so, I say "FLOOR SHOW!"
If it's at the end of a trick before the revelation, I ask the spectator to choose a card, ask them to name their chosen card, and when it's turned over, it's their card.

I just bend down and pick them up.

Laymen tend to understand its not an easy art, so most don't laugh if you screw up. Flourishers KNOW its not an easy art, so they shouldn't laugh either.

As for the rest, well... You can't please everyone, can you? :p

If it's for magic, I'm not so sure.

When I drop a deck or card i say "Don't worry it's part of flourish :)"

I think he is talking about mainly for practicing... but if you say that out loud to yourself that's alright. ;) Just kidding. :)

Well... I usually just have a burning pain in my chest of frustration. My eyes turn red and fire surrounds me. In my anger I pick up my cards and cause the what ever building I'm in to explode. Good thing I don't practice in my house...

Seriously though, I just suck it up and pick them up. I get frustrated, but I just suck it up and pick them up. I hate it as does everyone else, but it's part of practicing. I hope to soon actually have a table with some more room on it with a close up pad so that when I do mess up, I don't have to pick them up off the floor. They will all be right in front of me. If you have a way of doing this at your home, I recommend it.

nooooo!!! Laymen do not understand this at all they know it is hard but still when you drop even one card at least one of them will laugh and then BAM a chain reaction of laughs it has happen to me at break in class.

other flourishers or magicians won't laugh (except magic friends) because they don't know you and they know it is hard and they don't want to be disrespectful.

There's really no "way" to pick up your cards off the floor when you fumble. Just pick'em up the old fashioned way. OR, sometimes I accidentally drop the whole pack, except one card, and I ask if it's their card, and it most likely wouldn't be it. Then, just grab the cards off the floor. But sometimes asking the spectator to help in a very relaxed background would work, so the spectator would feel more included in the whole "show" or act.

Hasn't happened to me before. :) I don't treat it like a big deal, and therefore neither do they.

I personly think getting angry is stupid. what i did is i went and got 12 ish cheap decks of cards and go through them a bit by bit over my bed. then i gather them all up (upside down right way up unsorted) then put it in a big tower next to my bed take off a chunk and repeat

but ultimatly whan peforming its best to not drop cards in the first place
(or use 37 loops to make all off the dropped cards fly up into your hand):D

Laymen laugh, hell my reflection laughs when I drop cards.

They just feed off mistakes :(
Just gotta suck it up, pick em up, and go on.
