Electric Touch By Yigal Mesika

Hi, I'm Zachary. I'm a pretty novice magician and new to the site. Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong spot but I was wondering if anyone has tried Electric Touch and what your thoughts on it are if you have. I am trying to branch out into more visual tricks but because of double jointed fingers I find it hard to do your average card conjuring. I thought I'd try my luck with some magic that was less focused on cards and could be more impromptu. Is this one of them? Any helpful answers are appreciated.

It's not really visual at all. It's more used to create a physical sensation for an otherwise mental effect (With a few exceptions).

It's a gimmick so that pretty much removes it from the "impromptu" category right off the bat. I've read a lot of people have trouble with it, but I've also read that a lot of people don't have any issues. You will have to alter a pair of shoes to use it "properly" though so that will probably factor into your decision.

My personal advice is not to worry about something like ET right now. Being new means you most likely won't be able to use it to its full potential. Worry about learning your fundamentals such as sleight of hand with multiple objects and getting a solid foundation in performance skills.

I agree with what Christopher said about avoiding tricks such as Electric Touch until you've had more experience. ET is simply a gimmick that strengthens what effects you are already able to do, so I'd practice the basics of your preferred field of magic. Eventually you will be able to strengthen routines with gimmicks such as ET.
Best regards,
Zak
