Does such a gimmick exist? If not, I think it would be SOO much more useful as you would be able to demagnetize the ring whenever you wanted.

That is a good idea, I'll work on it. Don't expect anyting within the next few days. Probably on Saturday.
I was thinking that maybe you could wrap wire around a half dollar or something and stick it under your watch, connect a battery to it that would be in your sleeve or pocket, and then just wear an iron ring (if that even exists, haha). Then again, I don't know if the magnetic field would be able to extend from a watch to a finger ring, it might be too far...
Unfortunately, the experimentation thuse far on the use of electromagents for PK style effects has not given very good results. Because of the issues with size/current ratios you are simply not able to build a practical device. A search on the magic cafe will give you more details on this one.
