Seen quite a few reviews, but though I'd share my thoughts and opinion. Please note I'll be sharing my FAVORITES of the DVD. Enjoy - if you have any questions or comments, feel free to share!
TRANSPORT | Intermediate| 4/5:
You hold a cell phone and the spectator holds a cell phone. A rubber band is wrapped around the cell phone in your hand. The band visually vanishes from the phone in your hands and reappears on the phone they have been holding the entire time!
I’ll start off by saying this effect is very bold – presentation is key! Like a few of Calen’s effects, this utilizes an ingenious gimmick; you’ll have everything you need and can easily be constructed in a matter of minutes. This effect fries the spectator. The moment when the spectator sees the rubber band on the phone is breathtaking. Each maneuver is simple and clean and the spectator will not suspect a thing. The fact that the gimmick lays under the spectator’s noses and completely fools them gives you that feeling of success when the effect is all over.
=BONUS | Easy | 4/5:
A borrowed ring instantly links onto a few rubber bands worn on your wrist then it melts off just as impossibly.
This utilizes the “Transport Gimmick” but to a different level. This is genius, to say the least. Very easy to perform and just like “Transport”, it deceives the spectator is such a clever way. It’s worth noting that if you’re a rubber band performer, this should be in your repertoire.
SUSPENDED | Easy | 5/5:
You hang one band on another. Then in an instant half of the supporting band vanishes for just a moment leaving the band hanging in the air! Pure visual goodness!
Damn.Visual… there are no others words to describe this. This HAS to be seen to appreciate the idea and the impact of “Suspended”. I was literally speechless when I watched this. This uses a common magician-item and is readily available at your local magic dealer, if you’re not in possession of it. The moves are little knacky, but when you have them down, it’ll ABSOLUTELY be worth it. The rubber bands can be examined and inspected by the spectator before and after the effect. One of the most underrated effects on the DVD – worth of the DVD alone.
TRANSIT | Intermediate | 4/5:
An ordinary rubber band is wrapped around your finger and visually jumps from finger to finger. Calen is back with two new handling on this super visual effect.
If you’re a fan of rubber band magic, than you’ll be a fan of “Transit”. It’s practical, visual and commercial – definitely an extraordinary ‘on-the-spot’ or ‘at-the-moment effect’ to perform. It uses a simple and cunning gimmick that’s trouble-free to construct and easy to carry around. “Transit’ is also perfectly choreographed - every transition from move to sequence is cleanly displayed and achieved. Important tip: Timing is everything!
FRICTION | Easy | 4/5:
An insanely visual rubber band thru bill routine! Impromptu and easy to learn.
A 3-phrase rubber band routine that’s not only impromptu, but doesn’t have to be limited to just money. Each advancing moves adds another ‘blow-to-the-head’ to the spectator. First the rubber band is slowly half-melted off the bill, than instantly and visually melted off and than for the ‘big finish’, the bill is placed back on the bill, all while be secured by a paperclip… simple magic that hits hard.
Afterthoughts:
Another great release from Papercrane and from the talented Calen Morelli. He takes you through each step - more than once and from different angles - so you can have it down in no time. If you want a DVD that contains everything from cards to rubber bands, look no further. Top quality!
