Quick poll here.

When you do a normal faro. Once you have cut the cards does you hand with the top half go up or down.

For me I go up, its the way I was taught to do a giant fan. And it has just stuck with me.

I see lots of people go down the faro at the bottom. I can do both, but favor going to the top.

?

Are you talking about in/out faros? or the cut of the deck?

I think you should explain this better.

If you're talking about which hand goes which way, most people cut off the top half and go down, as you can see the cards. If you go up, how will you be able to see the point at which they weave? It will be blocked by your hand.

I split the cards 26/26, then I hold them in a biddle-ish way on both packets, and faro the long ends of the deck together. (I prefer this, as it is somehow more consistent for me, not sure why...)

Not sure how you go in/our faros from what I said. When you cut the deck does the hand with the top packet go up or down. Simple.

I feel this does need some clarification.

In/Out Faro:
An Out Faro shuffle retains the top and bottom card of the deck. The top card is weaved on top of the 27th card in the deck.

An In Faro is just the opposite, the top card is weaved under the 27th card in the deck and the original 26th card ends up on the bottom after one Faro.

I read this poll as meaning "Do you start your Faro at the top of the two packets a weave down, or do you start and the bottom of the two packets and weave up"

I weave from the top of the packets down, since there are a number of effects where the cards on top are all that i really care about and i want to make sure those and correctly Faroed.

If insead you ment "which hand to you grab the top packet with" i don't really think it matters

That's my thinking on it,
cheers,

No. I asked once you have broken the deck into packets does you hand with the top packet go up or down? I dont get what is soo confusing. 17 other people got it.

The way you explained it doesent really make sense. You can start at the top of the two packets and weave down or up. You need a top and bottom not top and top.
