Getting a break under the top card

I've been practising the method of getting a break under the top card (I'm not sure of the specific name) in which you distract the spectator with your free hand, do a wrist kill, slide of the top card with your thumb and lift it slightly to get a break under it.

The problem I'm finding is that for me this doesn't transfer easily to a pinky break, more of a ring finger break - because that finger rests above the cards higher than my little finger. I can get a break that I can work with, but the problem with it is that it looks kinda obvious from the front angle (you can see the top card lifted slightly above the others). Is there an easy way in which to perform this break getting my little finger underneath rather than my ring finger thus eliminating that issue?

I think what would be handy is an in depth tutorial if anyone knows where I can find one?

Cheers

This is something that simply requires repetition... I had a similar problem with my ring finger for a while, just keep handling cards. Eventually your fingers will learn where to sit, and this will not be a problem. Long before that however, you'll figure out how easy it is to avoid your ring finger entirely with properly applied pressure and angles, or how easy it is to transfer a break from ring to pinky, which should be exceedingly easy. If you really, really want a tutorial, try searching through Aaron Fisher's Card Magic Minutes or whichever youtube videos he has. I know there is something for this in one of them, and his teaching is the best.

You may be pushing the card too far over. you only need to push the card over a very small amount for it to get onto your pinky. You dont even really need to do a big wrist kill.
Eventually you could look at a pinky count which will be worth it in the long run.

But for the pinky break, just slide the card over a little bit and you should be able to get your pink under it without engaging your ring finger
