Gypsy thread QUESTIONS!

I do card magic mostly and rarely do any other types of magic.

I am very interested in getting gypsy thread by Dan Sperry, but I have some questions first.

1. Is it good for close up? Like 2-5 ft?

2. Does it have a good clean up?

3. Is it good for a beginner in a trick like that?

Thank you all for the advice! :)

1. yes it's very good for close up. Kind of like how Dan did it in the video. It works well on stage too.

2. Clean up is a piece of cake.

3. It will take a little practice. But it's nothing too difficult.

What James1Wise said is 100% accurate.

But I want to add something. When you go to get the "tools" for the trick, actually get the right ones that Dan tells you to get. The first time I watched the 1-on-1, my thought was "whatever, this "certain stuff" will do." ... it won't. just a tip.

1. I saw Eugene Burger perform this on a stage. Close-up shouldn't be too difficult to manage either.

2. Yes. James1Wise said it better than I could.

3. This is a tough one for me to answer. Mechanically, this shouldn't pose many problems for beginners. It's a matter of performing it. I've seen this performed for beauty and grace, for inspiration, or for laughs. This is above and beyond Sperry's very-much "Dan Sperry" performance. If you buy the effect then pay attention to the end where a list of resources are given. Do try to find other peoples' performances then watch those magicians for everything except their technique. Gypsy Thread is something that begs to be performed with so much more than simply doing the trick.
