Have you ever practiced an advanced flourish/cut?

Hey guys,

There was a poll recently about T11 being a cardistry or magic site. I would rather like to know how many people here have never practiced any advanced flourishing. I would consider these people "pure magicians". So the purpose of the poll is to find out how many pure magicians are there, or are the majority of people here flourishers as well.

Examples of basic flourishes include a thumb fan, a pressure fan, dribbling the cards, springing the cards, Charlier cut, hot shot cut, riffle shuffle, faro shuffle, ribbon spread etc. Anything beyond that I would consider for the purposes of the poll an advanced flourish.

I doubt there would be any "pure flourishers" who have never practiced a card trick, but that would make an interesting poll as well

I don't think you can separate a pure magician from an un-pure magician just because of the flourishes they practice. I think it's sort of mean to do so.

never have really i played with the small sybil in kenners book for a few days once( not the five faces version )

i try to avoid displays of "card skill" when i do card magic so florishes don't fit.
i like the lennert green attiude of blundering around sometimes.

for curtain audience i make it a little more flashy but not much ( think james browns style of card magic )

I mainly do fans, and Charlier cuts, that's about it. I have thought about buying a DVD on flourishing, but i'd rather spend my money on magic.

Also, I wouldn't say that people who do flourishes aren't pure magicians. In fact, in one of Wayne Houchin's videos, you see him doing flourishes, does that make him a non-pure magician? I don't think so, but that's just me. You might as well call them muggles. Haha!

Yeah, that would be an advanced flourish, at least for the poll

I practice every single flourish on LETHAL, System, and the TRILOGY, and Generation X. And the flourishes on those are hard. Well maybe not the begining of LETHAL, but the others are.
