How to write a review

i do not like reviews that just say very little information and are less than a paragraph.

Name of effect or dvd and author

Effect description: Make sure to get the official description from the site.

Price: How much is the price.

Teaching: How was the teaching. how could the teaching been better?

Quality of material: This should be how the layout of the dvd is and the how the
quality of the effect is.

Difficulty: how is the difficulty.

Angles: How are the angles.

Quality of gimmick: If there is a gimmick then tell about it here.

Applications: Is it good for close up or stage? is it a practical effect?

Final thoughts: This is were you put what you think overall of the effect.

If it is a multiple effect dvd then put each effect and description.

This is supposed to be just a guideline. All reviews shouldn't look like this. I am just tired of the one paragraph reviews that barely give you any info. So if this is your first time writing a review you can look here.

If you have any other things Ishould add then just post below.

Hoped I helped.

Or maybe you should let people write what they want, even if it doesn't meet your rigorous standards. It's one thing to write a review that is dribble, and quite another to be brief.

When I write reviews, it will generally consist of my own thoughts on the effect. I'm not profiling the release, but rather simply stating my opinions.

Is that OK with you?

effect description: make sure to get the official description from the site.

price: how much is the price.

teaching: how was the teaching. how could the teaching been better? rate a score out of ten.

quality of material: this should be how the layout of the dvd is and the how the
quality of the effect is. rate on a score one out of ten.

difficulty: how is the difficulty. score on a scale of one to ten.

angles: how are the angles. score on a scale of one to ten.

quality of gimmick: if there is a gimmick then tell about it here. score one to ten.

applications: is it good for close up or stage? is it a practical effect? score one to ten.

final thoughts: this is were you put what you think overall of the effect. you also put the final score on a scale from one to ten.

if it is a multiple effect dvd then put each effect and description. then put a score for each.

Why do you need a numerical score for each section? Can't you make a decision by reading what people have to say instead of having to have it simplified into a number?

I don't believe a complex opinion can be represented numerically.

The only thing I agree with is that reviews shouldn't be a single paragraph long, I prefer a more in depth review.

if you have any other things i should add then just post below.

Use of capital letters.

I agree with the general purpose of this thread but not with some of the points within. The one paragraph reviews are, for all intents and purposes, useless.

On the other hand, I don't like number ratings. I'd place more emphasis on personal thoughts and the use of the product. A discussion about the mood and type of performer necessary to pull off Control is more helpful than listing the price and difficulty..

I think number ratings in magic are generally dumb....

Zero Punctuation words of wisdom. Good to see I'm not the only fan around here.

Rating art numerically is like trying to rate it chromatically. And I'm sure we'd all agree that my review of Maynia for example would be a lot less informative if I said, "I give this DVD a rating of green."
