I has a new card trick...

I'm not one to go for card tricks anymore. There's just too many tricks on the market and nothing beats the classics anyways. That's why I'm thrilled that the little gem I just discovered has actually been around in one for or another for quite a few years. It's a beautiful card trick that can be done over the phone, with a normal deck, no set up, no stooges, and it's not the Princess effect.

Needless to say I think I'm going to hold onto this one for a while. I think with a little fine tuning this will devastate.

William:

If you haven't checked out Tamariz's Verbal Magic and Steinmeyer's Impuzzlibilities series, check those out. Some amazing effects, many of which can be done over the phone or radio.

Sorry Christopher. There is a new site I've found for magic/Mentalism and its a gold mine! If you want some powerful magic I recommend checking out outlaw effects. Great stuff. All if it requires performance skill not just doing a bunch of moves. Makes you think.

OUTLAW? Are you kidding me?

William, they are one of the top companies when it comes to Bizarre effects though many seem to work on the same exact electronics (from Tim Wiseman). Rick & the team do offer a long list of very neat stuff, including the biggest selection of Book Tests I've ever seen (it's nuts) BUT, as with all things, I encourage folks to invest with caution -- ask around before you put the money down in that some of the materials are ridiculously complicated and not practical for the majority of us. However, there are some very cool pieces. . . I just got through paying for a collector's book test, one of 13 I think it was that will be in my grubby hands come Friday of this week and on the collector's front, OUTLAW offers a great selection.

Another "similar" site is Lebanon Circle, it will drive you just as crazy; Anthony Black's Daemonic Dreams as well as Taylor Imagineering also have some great things to dive into.

When it comes to Bizarre & Mental type products there are other sources, many of which are invitation only and thus, expensive to deal with, but some of what these sites offer is priceless!

Outlaw has been one of my secret go to's for the past year. I also have Death Toll from Chris Taylor. I'm three books into the Luna series, Kikou, Sanctum*, The Relic, Telephone Bill, So Dark, and currently saving for Shutter Bug. To which I've only got about $30 more to go.

I also love Paul Pratter's effects. If you perform a Haunted Key and you're not using his Secret Key then you're out of your mind. He has the BEST haunted key available on the market hands down. Not only does the prop look beautiful but the presentation makes so much sense it's not funny. His Witches of Glastonbury is another beautiful effect.

While I'm at it I'm also going to pen that I am a huge fan of Tony Chris. Another Bizarrist from Canada, and brilliant mind.

I have got more work out of their effects than I have from common magic card tricks and I simply love Rick's customer service. Let me say this about Sanctum. This thing is evil. I am not worthy of the power this effect has and I deleted my review of it after I was ready to post it to T11 and Ellusionist. Why? Because I don't want it falling into the hands of teenagers who don't understand just how much power this one effect has, and thus misusing it. I have only performed it for very very few people, partly because I'm still learning all of it's little quirks, and partly because of the reactions it gets. Evil evil little device.

But yes, my decision to go into more mentalism to round out and help further define my character is a direct result of me finding Rick's work and falling in love with his craftsmanship.
