Hey all.

I don't post my videos here very much at all, in fact I think this will be the first. But I've been working on this routine for a while now, gotten some good advice and changed things rather recently, so I wanted more opinions. Feel free to be as critical as you want.

The editing is very trippy and a little weird - if you don't like it, that's cool, tell me, but do focus criticism on the magic please. There's one thing I think I could improve a lot on, but I'd like to see if you guys agree.

Please watch in HD; video information is in the description.

After watching it 4 times (due to work distractions) -

Editing I didn't like in the beginning, I found it hard to focus on what was happening. Beside the point of course :)

The actual effect - I enjoyed it. I hadn't seen it before actually so I thought it was a wonderful and showy routine which would keep the audience guessing as well as continue to keep their attention throughout.

very very good. i thought that everything was cool. you should were on the second time you produce the ace. it looked a little "uncomfortable".

Man, you know the funny thing? I've never had that problem before in my life. But you're completely right of course. I had the music playing while I was performing this (I had decided the music before I shot it) for the camera, and listening to the music and timing the production made my fingers forget how to do the production, it's terrible! Thanks for noticing.

Awesome, thanks a lot for that. My friend pretty much was playing with some effects - if enough people don't like it I'll either put up a non-edited version of it with just titles and credits, or reshoot the thing altogether.

I'm glad you liked the effect though, really happy about that, thanks a lot! :D Thanks thanks thanks, really appreciate it - both of you :D

I Know Kung Fu is the very first routine in the book. It's highly recommended - I've had it for a few months, worked through about a dozen or so routines, and there's a lot of great thinking and material so far and lots to go :)

I'll keep that in mind - I might pick this up after I finish working through my current stuff.

I really liked it, as we've already addressed, the ace production looked a little fumble-y but not a huge concern. What I enjoyed about it was the finesse in the handling. It makes a trick much more fun to watch when there are nice transitions between phases and moves. Well done.

Thanks man, glad you liked the handling. The slightly showy moves were my own design in an attempt to make the handling elegant I suppose, though I didn't add anything to the structure of the effect.

I am the Kung Fu master of the Robot dance.

And incidentally, to whoever gave it 2 stars - grow some balls and tell me what's wrong with it. I don't care if it gets a bad rating because it's bad, but I'd like to know why - if you're older than 10 and are able to string two sentences together over the anonymous internet.

Just judging by how people tend to act, I'd say the person that rated it 2/5 doesn't even have a reason as to why they did so... they just simply wanted to be "that person." Then again, I could be wrong - I'm curious as to what was wrong with it. (from someone elses point of view)

I hope you don't think it's me who gave you 2 stars just because I was just trying to make you guys laugh. I have balls. I'm older than 10...although I make 10 year old silly comments.

Now that we are on the subject, i give you 4.5/5. There is a little bit of stiffness in your "double" handling. Other than that, you are golden and on a great path to doing great card magic. Keep it up!

I really liked it, what got across to me more than the trick itself (and I don't know whether this was intentional or not, but it worked) was the atmosphere it created. Atmosphere might be the wrong word, actually, as that implies tense and dramatic. This had a really cheery, almost primary feel to it, because of the combination of the handling, the cards and the music. It just all added together to create a really entertaining piece, and because of this, I missed any slip-ups that may have occurred. To me, this is as much the meaning of magic as any knuckle-busting sleight; the way others see it. And for that, I say that this was very well done!

Hey man, thanks a lot for the comment, I really appreciate it :)

Whilst I didn't add anything to the structure of the routine it was definitely a really big goal of mine to make a handling that was clean and elegant and pretty much just looked nice - all the swirls and turns in picking up the cards and displaying were my additions to make it mine if you will. It's for the same reason that I use S&M decks, for the feel of elegance. So I guess I won't claim all the credit for how the video came out, but my intention was definitely in the ballpark too!

Thanks again, I really appreciate all the encouragement and advice I can get, I've been working really hard on this to give it a distinctive style and feel :)

Nice work man, I'm a big fan of 52 memories. This is a great trick and you handled it well. My only real point of concern would be the hesitation on the TumbleGem switch - try to maintain a constant rhythm for the whole thing.

Cheers,
David.

Yep yep that's the main concern coming out of the thing I think. And yes - 52 Memories is fantastic. My favourite routine so far in the book has to be Alone in the Dark, I just love the presentation.

Alone in the dark is really good stuff, definitely in agreement there. My favourite from the book has to be HofCity - truely an incredible job on the 4 ace problem.
