A review, but in a FAQ format... Enjoy!

Q: What is Illuminate?

A: A card is selected and remembered. A lighter is borrowed. Introduce your phone, your digital camera, your FLIP HD, or your camcorder. Have the spectator document what is about to happen. So what happens? Imagine being able to light a borrowed lighter, and cause the FLAME itself to form the shape of their chosen card!

Q: How do you installing the gimmick and how safe/durable is it?

A: It will take you no more than 2 seconds to install the gimmick. It's very lightweight, durable and will not affect the lens of your phone or camera in anyway. Once installed, just keep it in place until you're ready to perform. The DVD comes with 2 gimmicks, so you can install one on your phone or another on your camera... or in case you lose/mess-up the first one. The effect is practically 'impromptu' once everything is set and you're ready to perform.

Q: What is taught on the DVD?

A: Mike Hankins is an amazing teacher. He definitely teaches the ins and outs of the gimmick, the installation, how to use it to your advantage and also includes many helpful afterthoughts including; card forces, audience management and what phones will/will not work.

Q: Where can I pick this up?

A: http://papercranemagic.com/illuminate.htm

FPS,

Thanks for the "FAQ-in" review. GET IT? :)

I hope you enjoy the effect as much as I still am today. Wizard Product Review named it "Worker of the Week". It really is a fun effect to perform and the reactions from your spectators will prove just that.

Best of all, you can send them a keepsake to their cellphone which will not only give them something to show their friends and family, but also a good way to get your contact info out there to book more gigs!

Lol - Thanks for the kind words Mike, and I'm glad you've taken the time to read into my review! And how could I forget that (!), you said it right, it's DEFINITELY "a great keepsake and a good way to get your contact info out there"!

Some question :

1. If the gimmick is broken, is it easily available?
2. Can we use a borrowed phone?
3. Is there any clean up needed?(if the spectator suspect that is a camera trick)
4. Is there any restriction when performing this trick?(day time vs night time)
5. Is there any other variation of the gimmick available?(an option of home made gimmick/modification of the gimmick beside card revelation)

I think that is all question for now. Thanks for answering. :) I'm waiting for my Illumin8 to arrive lol.

1). Your best bet would be to contact Papercrane via customer service, but I HIGHLY guarantee that you're gimmick will not become "broken"... it seems to 'made' to last a lifetime.

2). No, you cannot use a borrowed phone from the spectator. Once you obtain your copy of Illuminate, you'll see why! ;) And Mike adds a justification as to why you're using YOUR phone.

3). There is no clean-up necessary, although once you have your gimmick installed, you can easily think of a method so the spectator can FULLY check your phone. Seeing how your phone IS personal, I don't think the spectators need to go that far into that sort of shenanigans. lol

4). You can perform Illuminate in daytime or nighttime, as you can see from the Trailer, but I SUGGEST to perform in nighttime, as the overall effect performs better so. Are there restrictions?! Not really, but you won't fall into any problems when performing Illuminate, as Mike covers how to handle any situations when there might be a problem.

5). Nope, this is a special-made gimmick and there is ONLY 1 company that manufactures this gimmick for this trick, so you're out of luck, but on the brightside, Papercrane throws in TWO (2) gimmicks, so you'll definitely be set to perform!

Hope those answers your questions, and if you need any help, just post in the Thread! :)

Yes, you totally answered my question. But another Question to shoot. :p

1. Since it is two(2) gimmick included. I will get TWO(2) same card reveal or an random TWO(2) different card reveal?(for e.g. in the trailer was 2 of heart) Will i get one 8 of Spade, another one maybe would be Ace of Spade or other?

2. Since the gimmick is installed in our phone(and i do not know yet what would the gimmick looks like, hope it doesn't similar to Andrew Mayne Ghost Vision). What if YOU were having an unlucky case where the spectator accidentally spotted the gimmick in our phone?(for example they touched the camera lens or pressed wrongly to have an early revelation)

i think that's all for now... :)

OK, here we go again! :p

1). The ONLY reveal for both gimmicks is the 2 of Hearts - simply short, you get TWO (2) same card reveals.

2). Mike covers how to disguise the gimmick and the spectator WILL NOT spot the gimmick, trust me! ;)

That is correct...
I actually hand my phone out before and after, and they are LOOKING at the gimmick and still see nothing at all. But if you watch the demo, one of the girls looks at the box. I actually get more heat on the box than I do on the phone and that doesn't even make sense! :)

here is a tips: I have this product. most people know that it will come up with the two of heart but if you somehow put the gimmick overlapping each other in a correct position..(you must try.... you will come up to a different result..which is the four of heart. it is worth the buy.

the gimmick is so much different than Andrew mayne's. The result is also so much different. This is very well machine-made (can't be hand made). it is different. you will smile and play with it all the time.

Quoted for truth. Most of the heat will be on the card case, rather than the phone. The effect is very good at deceiving the spectator... you're ALWAYS be one step ahead and they'll NEVER suspect such a gimmick of high-class.

Wow, I'm gonna have to try this out. I had this CRAZY idea of revealing the card on the moon using, lol. Now that'll DEFINITELY be something. But I'll experiment with your Four of Hearts revelation and my moon idea.

Yes, indeed. The idea (NOT the method) behind Illuminate is similar to Andrew Mayne's effect, but VERY VERY different as well. I hope you understand what I'm trying to come across (as you own the effect). ;) But EVERYTIME I see the gimmick behind Illuminate, I DO smile at the genius behind it - it's REMARKABLE.

At the same time I picked up "Illuminate" by Mike Hankins, I also picked up another one of his releases: the "Triple Lindy".

The "Triple Lindy" is an alternative-flashy move to perform the KM Move. It's VERY easy and can be performed within 10 minutes (or less) once you learn the maneuver behind it. You can perform everything from mid-air color changes to signature transpos - I even combined this move to perform my variation of the "Anniversary Waltz".

You're be one-step ahead of your spectators once this move is done and because it's sooo clean, they won't suspect a thing... it's LITERALLY done right under their noses.

Honestly, check it out, it's definitely worth looking into if you're a fan of the KM Move!
