Irv Furman Died on the 21st...

I never met him, but Irv Furman died on the 21st.

My sister's boyfriend lives in Philly and he was quite literally just at Mr. Furman's magic shop. He got me a trick for Hanukkah. He told me how nice this guy was and that the next time I was up in Philly we would go to meet him.

Today, he told me to google him and I came across something on the Magic Ccafe forums that Mr. Furman had died. I feel terrible. I never even met the guy and I'm so sad.

Did any of you know him?

I knew Irv Furman well. He was an early mentor of mine who shared with me his knowledge and love for magic.

His small store in Philly went through its ups and downs and was sometimes surrounded by controversy, but in the end it will be remembered by myself warmly as the beginning of my journey into magic.

I only wish that I had been able to properly thank Irv for teaching me that I had the ability to inspire astonishment in others.

So thank you Irv for bringing wonder to so many and for changing this young man's life.

Irv Furman

I'm sorry to have read that Mr. Furman has passed at such an early age. I knew Irv when I lived in Philly & I was also an employee of Mr. Furman. He was a fine magician but even a greater human being. Mr. Furman will be sadly missed.
