I am very new to magic and cardistry; specifically, I discovered both in July 2014. Because of my PTSD, I needed something to occupy my hands, but I couldn't do any tricks and cardistry with two hands because I needed at least one hand to be 'on guard'. Due to this, I have decided to stick to one-handed card tricks and one handed flourishes.
I recently came to the realization that I know zero card tricks. Because of my situation, I set forth a search for some one handed card tricks and I came across Joel Paschall's 'Ace Cut'. I will also say that this is my first Theory11 purchase.
For $4.95, you get a 10 minute video that walks you through how to do a one-handed 'Cutting the Aces'. The trick itself at first glance looks like a unique blend of cardistry and magic. Having known how to do a Charlier Cut prior to the purchase helped the learning process immensely.
The tutorial is VERY user friendly, easy to follow, and is very thorough on most of the material. The speed at which each step is done is at a great speed that a beginner like myself can follow without having to constantly rewind.
I was able to do the trick in full within three days; again, I am a beginner. so you seasoned folk will more than likely be able to do it much much faster.
The only issue I had, especially why I wasn't able to complete the trick faster, was the revolution cut that is utilized. Up to this point in my journey, I only know of one variant of a Revolution Cut (I think it's a basic Revolution Cut) and knowing that one variant didn't help me at all. I had to spend a lot of time rewinding because I didn't think that there was enough explanation on how to perform the Revolution Cut used.
As a whole, Joel Paschall's Ace Cut is a brilliant trick and completely worth the $4.95. If you're into cardistry and card magic. I think that this is one of those 'must haves' that should be in your repertoire.
