Logic in Magic: Also Misdirection...

I posted this in a thread before but I think it would actually be a nice thread of it's own. Here is the story:

Logic in magic is esential. I found this is media and it perfectly displays the type of logic used in magic. http://media.theory11.com/1101-AwareNess

This shows how easy it is for someone to skip right over a secret move and believe they were watching carefully.

Read this Sentence out loud:

A penny saved is a
a penny earned.

Many people missed something essential when reading this. they most likely thought that because a 4 year old could read the sentence it was easy. However, they missed something secret hidden there. That is what people do. they watch magic and think that it will be easy to figure out so they actually underestimate it and don't look as hard. Thus, making them overlook key points at which there is a secret.

I will not reveal what the sectret was in that sentence.. If you want to know what is hidden in that sentence, then you can PM me and I'll gladly share it with you.

I've seen the penny thing used before, but with some other example (it was in a magic book!). Good example, though! I enjoyed reading, but it didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know.

Haha, you guys aren't seeing the secret. It's not just an analogy. :) It's A Secret. ;) Haha that's a hint for you.

Actually, this is also a part of how suggestion works, (such as the stuff Derren Brown does), but sort of in an opposet way.

The way suggestion works is to distract the person so much with something irrelivant but confusing that they don't recognize you've given them a suggestion. Before they know it, they do your suggestion!

And I have to admit, I fell hook, line and sinker on the video. :)

That's not suggestion at all. Thats just an extremely difficult way of putting someone into a hypnotic trance.

Go to your window, take the cetains out of the way and open it loudly. Ask about what did you just do, they'll answer: "you opened the window", no one will say "you moved the certains".

:) Fred Kaps used to say "misdirect all the time", Card College 2 goes into detail in this in the misdirection chapter.
