First of all, that isn't really a routine more than it is a series of tricks. What do sponge balls and the Criss Angel Levitation have in common? What does Saw and Indecent have in common? Simply throwing together a list of tricks doesn't make it a routine. The tricks have to flow... if you found a way to have these tricks connect and flow I would love to hear how.

Right now, this is simply a list of tricks.

Why do they have to flow people like changes, twists, turns, quickstops, corkscrews that is what magic is all about. Let me hear your routine and how they flow?
If you want the best reactions you could get, having your tricks flow allows for those reactions to be even bigger.

I have more than 1 routine. I'll give you my basic street routine.

It's only a routine of 3 tricks, because I don't like to hold up the people who I am performing to. A routine doesn't need to consist of many tricks. Just enough to have a basic story line. This is a new story line that I made a month or two ago.

I start off with Stigmata and use a patter I made that talks about the and the veins and how they react when another person touches your skin.

I perform the effect then move on to the Invisible Deck, stating that blood is what keeps the brain alive and how blood is really what keeps all of us alive. I state that one has to increase their blood flow to create something truly amazing. I then use this patter and continue into the ID with patter like this.

I then move on to Factory Sealed or Impervious (depending on which bottle I'm using). I talk about warming up the hands and having the blood flow through my hands to have them warm up. I rub on the bottom of the bottle to "warm up the plastic", I then push the coin through.

You see, it's nothing too complex, just some simple patter to have the tricks flow.

Well, Mitchell's presentation is very well thought out and uses numerous objects and such, one of the routines I have revolves entirely around cards and I'll share it with you just so you can get an idea about why effects that flow together go very well.

I start off with the effect Panic, I do this as well as an added application which "ditches" the gimmick and you have the 4 kings from the actual deck.

I then go into David Stone's invisible Palm routine which in turn, changes the 4 kings into Aces, I tell my spectators that I'm in need of the Aces because everyone knows all the magic happens with them.

Then, I explain how the Ace's are magic and how they all work as one, and I perform the Asher Twist. Which is a personal favourite of mine.

Once completing the Asher Twist I say I'm going to use the Aces to find their card. And perform Hofzzy Osbourne. Of course it takes a little mis-direction to set-up but, it is done in front of the spectators. This results in 1 card being left-over, and this card is then used in an Ambitious Card Routine.

That is pretty much my favourite routine, and is easy to learn, and all material is widely accessible and even sold here on Theory11. That's just to give you another idea.

Mitchell is correct. There is no flow here. More like you are jumping from one effect to the next with no link in between.

I'm assuming this is a street performance routine you are trying to come up with?

People do like changes in magic. However, if you just keep changing from one thing to the next with no link on a street performance, people may get antsy as they have no way to gage when it will be over, and therefore they will wait uncomfortably or it to end so they don't offend you, or they will up and leave in the middle.

Now, in a paid gig, people expect change and such. However, if you approach someone on the street and you get them interested in seeing magic, they expect a trick. Not a show. I you can make the effects link, then you will keep their interest until the end.

However, to offer something constructive...

I would suggest starting off with the levitation. It will grab peoples interest. You can then go into a description of how people are able to do strange things when they put their mind to it. Perform stigmata. Say you would like to demonstrate this further. If there is someone wearing a necklace appropriate and someone has a ring, now perform Saw. You can then explain how once you are really good, you can affect things other than yourself. Perform either Indecent or Fraud. Thank them for their time.

Ditch the spongeballs all together. They don't fit with the rest of the effects. Do ya see how this has been changed from a series of effects into a routine that has a flow, a solid beginning and an end?

As a note, don't ask for criticism then get made when it is given :p

Actually I believe magic is about be creative. Right now I am working on how to structure my material with a script and such. I am going along the lines of how people say that humans use only 10% of their brains but what would be possible if we could use 1 percent more than that, it still needs work but I think it would be cool.
