New Magician

I guess you couldn't even really call me a magician yet. I only have about two chapters of Royal Road under my belt and I have Brad Christian's CC1 under my belt. Now I am working on the classic Pass using "Pass with Care". The mechanics seem simple but obviously the ability to due it cleanly every time is the issue.

I was wondering on average how long it took everyone to get this move down.

Also I wanted to know if anyone could recommend a good teaching aid to get the different variations of fanning down?

That's the part I am at in RR and it's killing me.

Let me put it this way. If you are looking to master the pass, it is going to be a while.

Thank you for your replies. That allows me to manage my expectations. Guess I will go practice.

You should be able to get it fairly soon however you will need misdirection. I recommend learning the turnover pass because that's the easiest one I know. Also the spread pass from Dan and Dave's website is good. Just keep practicing and eventually you'll be able to perform it when they're burning you hands.

Been practicing different versions of the pass for something less than 10 years now. Starting to realize how they should be done.

I agree that the turnover pass is easier because it covers up most of the move. Just make sure you have a good reason for turning over the deck.

That said, it doesn't have to be perfect. If you're doing magic for a small group
(1-3 people) a bit of well-placed misdirection will distract the audience long enough for you to make the move, even if it is sloppy.
