There is a large-ish magic club in Richmond. I have a good friend there (Kevin Dunn). He is an amateur, but his magic is really smart. McBride used to call him his favorite magician.
Magic clubs can be kind of cliquey. So, be prepared to take some time, get to know people, and let them learn to trust you. Then, once you find a couple of people with similar interests, you will have a group you can start to session with.
