One-handed triple-packet flourishes

All right. This year I'm drlving into one-handed Cardistry and magic much much more.

I'm trying to create a routine, but I'm having a bit of a tough time finding one-handed flourishes that utilize 3 packets.
The only one I know of is cox uker, but I'm not really a fan of the aesthetic--or the name.

Difficulty is no deterrent here. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or places to look?

there is a move on Ladislas' Outbreak project, Recto Verso. For me, its quite fun and pretty hard, a great challenge. You should check it out.

Never noticed that about the name before. Maybe I'm still innocent...

D&D's Kryptonite is a classic.

Jonas Haglund just posted a tutorial for an instant triangle display: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEvMmie3ZhM. Looks knacky and fun!

This OHR triangle is a favorite of mine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDPUdf3yOVk

I suggest watching d4i1's videos for some ideas as well. Heck, watch his videos for no reason. Amazing.

If you're up for a challenge, Spencer Clark has a one-handed shuffle that uses three packets. I think it's in his video Odd Man Out, but I'm not sure.

When in doubt, invent your own! :D

There is a good three-packet one-handed flourish on NB3 (T11) and on Collection3 (Dealers Grip).

I realized that about the name when I said it too fast. I'm just baffled by why someone would take the time and dedication to making a complex flourish; then turning around and doing something like, 'I'm going to name it herpes!'.
If cardistry is an art, cox uker is a crudely spraypainted phallus.

Anyway, you are right about Spencer Clark with the 3 packet shuffle. He uses a few one handed things that are 'HTF did he do that?'

All those videos I want to learn--and great reminders that I'm WAY too new to cardistry to try and make my own stuff right now. I'm currently trying to learn Teachwrap and I'm having to modify it a bit for small hands. I'm ALMOST there. But it's a bit of a doozy.
Thank you!

I checked out NB3 and it seems like it's all two handed flourishes. It sounds like I might be looking at the wrong video (I found NB3 by Chase Duncan). I'll give it a look because I can always get some ideas, but I need a link--especially if it's an acronym. I've only been doing cardistry for less than 6 months.

No, 3D (in NB3) is based on a one-handed cut that forms a triangle. Chase teaches this one-handed cut as a prerequisite.

I agree completely––crudeness has no place in art, save for perhaps the critique of it.

I didn't know you were a newer cardist. What one handed cuts do you know already? I'd be happy to offer more specific recommendations based on your skill level.

Also, thanks for linking Teachwrap. I had no idea of it, but it looks amazing, and I love Mark's stuff.

All right, I know these:
Charlier
basic Revolution
basic one handed deck shuffle
Muse Cut

I don't have a large completed set as I'm learning how to do each flourish in both hands, so all 4 listed can be done in both the left and right.

I just started to balance the deck with the pinky-against the ringfinger for Teachwrap tonight so I can do it in the right hand (slowly and sloppily). Should be polished up in about a week--then it's off to the left hand.

But yes, if you have any recommendations--especially anything I can add to the repertoire; I'm all for it!
I'm already working on OH Triangle Display, as per your recommendation

And no problem on linking you to Teachwrap. It's really LESS frustrating than Muse Cut. But the way the Teachwrap video is done, it took me A LOT longer to pick up the general mechanics of it.

The triangle is a great place to pick up. After that, it's really up to you. The sky's the limit!

The Muse Cut is definitely scary at first, haha. It takes a while, but it's well worth it.

The part that got me with the Muse Cut was that the part I thought was the hardest (the packet flourish) was easy.
And the part I thought was easy (the deck hold) was damn near impossible at that time.
I've been doing the darn thing since October and I still get scared doing it in the right hand--I really need to work on the speed of the left. But man, dropping the deck on Muse Cut sucks.

I'm sure you already know this, but allowing gravity to "control" the packet more so than your pinky helps. The pinky acts as a lever and not a clamp. Again, that's pretty obvious, but a lot of people have trouble with that part, so I figured I'd chime in. I don't mean to assume stupidity on your part.

It's actually a good reminder. It's tough to remember when you can do one flourish that relies a bit on gravity, then try do do another one that tries a bit on the same principle; but can't divorce the idea that lever and clamp are not the same thing

I have a question: are one handed flourishes looked at as 'beginner' material to build up to 2 handed flourishes?

It seems a lot harder to track down and find resources for the one handed stuff. Are they just not in demand or no one has really tapped into the one handed stuff?

I don't know, actually. I think that one-handed flourishes are looked at building blocks for sure. I saw a video a while back of a cardist who only has use of one hand, and he did some great stuff. I don't know if I can find it, but I'd recommend going on a little scavenger hunt. Some of the old-school XCM-type stuff also promoted one-handed concepts that pushed limits. If anything, tow-handed cuts are just so popular that the other stuff has been somewhat forgotten.

Well hell.
Looks like I'm looking for a one handed cardist.

I am trying to invent a two-packet flourish and, Im not sure if it's been done; but a one handed top-card reveal+flourish+back on top of he deck. All while holding a deck.
Or is this one of those 'make a video and send it to the wire' things?

I'd like to see a video of what you come up with, as I'm slightly confused by the description. I don't know if it's relevant, but Allan Ackerman has a one-handed DL that might be of some use to you. I found it on Lybrary.
