Hey. I'm just starting flourishing, but I know (or at least I think I know) what's good, what's bad, what's n00bish, and what's not.

My question is pretty simple: Where can I find good flourish tutorials, videos, and books that aren't so..."mainstream".

What I mean is, a little Dan and Dave Buck is nice, but when the WHOLE VIDEO is cuts by them, it gets more than a little tedious to watch. Same thing with cuts by Daren. Daren is an awesome teacher and creator, but I see way too much of the Squeeze Cut everywhere to use any in a video.

So I'm asking if there are any good but not overused flourishes, books, or DVDs out there. I'm looking for something that isn't any of these:

The System
The Trilogy
XB

I'm gonna get The Encyclopedia, which has so many flourishes I could practice for years and not know them all, but I'm still looking for something else.

I've got armspreads down, including double, double back, standing, and turnovers, and my fanning is good enough, so I'm looking for some cuts.

Yeah I considered that for a while, but like you said it's a little hard to find. I guess that's why it's not used much. I'll check it out.

decknique.net has a TON of cuts in the media/tutorial section.

i dunno if I believe you when you say your fans are good enough. maybe your basic thumb/finger/pressure fan but what about twin fans, R hand indicies fan, giant fan (+twirl), fan stripouts, totally-one-handed-giant-fan, yinyang fan, etc...
... just saying, if you get bored of the same old stuff, is MORE CUTS really the right prescription?

Hey Trash, I'm CardPirahna on decknique. Sorry bout the name change, but yah, it's me.

I can do most of those, because fanning is something I enjoy more than cuts, but I only know (well) one or two, and I'm looking for another one to really start practicing. EVERYONE knows Pandora, EVERYONE knows J5, etc., etc. I want something not too many people have seen.

And btw, I think the Felidae Sybil is it. Nice job Babycat.

EDIT: I think the California Cut by Jonas could be it instead. I mean, how can you pick up a deck and not want to try that?

I'm surprised by the fact that anyone even likes that cut. :p For anyone wondering, it's a very old one handed 3 packet false cut of mine.

Cradle to Grave is a great choice, doesn't matter what you really know they DVD provides everything for you anyway. Gives a good amount of variety and impact moves some people are looking for. This DVD is often overlooked since it's the very first DVD from De'vo and more of the later DVD's and material is all the rage these days. Learning curve isn't so bad either, if you know how to fan some of these moves will take a couple days to get down pat.
