Sounds to me like someone who tries to convince people that the "paranormal" really does exist; in other words, a total fraud.

Paranormalists are those who investigate into pseudo-sciences. They attempt to bring things like cryptozoology, ghosts, UFOs, and other unexplained phemomenon into the light via the scientific method. At least, the ones whose hearts are in the right place do.

Then you've got self-proclaimed paranormalists who are just con artists looking to make a quick buck off of people who want to believe in something extraordinary.
