GUYS!!

I mostly do close-up card tricks like when me and my spectator are standing up next to each other.
But im going to perform at a friends party, so itll be kind of like a stage show.
Since i do tricks like 2 card monte, here then there, ACR, biddle trick, panic, etc. etc....im not sure if i can pull these off on stage!!??

HELP!! Tips? Advice?

P.S. Ill also be doing some sponge balls

If you are at a party, it will probably be more of a "parlour" show rather than a stage show. Your normal close up tricks probably won't work in this situation. You might want to think about either doing walk around at the party instead of in front of a large crowd, or simply not doing the show because of the situation you're in.

I'd talk to your friend and ask him if you could simply do walk around magic around the party to different guests.

This depends a lot on your situation but it sounds like you need tricks that are a little bigger than card tricks and not to angle sensitve. Sinful by W/H and Saw by Sean Fields come to mind but there are tons. You just have to shop around and see what fits the setup your will have be it a BBQ or kids birthday.

the beginning of sinful is angle-sensitive

well yeah I agree with the people above how you should do a walk-around, it might be more entertaining for the guests too, because it's more personal, the misdirection is easier. Well good luck! ;)

Why "ask" him?! Correct me if I'm wrong, but this sounds like you're doing this for fun mainly, right? No money...

Then why ASK him?!? Anything your friend is getting is better than nothing! When I have a friend that's having a birthday party, or a co-worker, etc, here's what I tell them.

1. You can either hire me as a paid entertainer, and you'll get the full show. Clothes, props, magic, the whole nine yards. I even discount the overall show 25% off.

2. You can invite me as a guest, and I'll show up as one. Regularly dressed, etc. I will however do a bit of magic here and there for your guests, but the whole time I'm there won't be non-stop magic. Oh...and I get a slice of cake too! LOL!

I just don't see why you're stressin' out over this, when it's simply for fun. Tell your friend how YOU ARE going to do the show...not in a bossy kinda way, but if he's not paying ya, then he has no right to dictate what kinda show you do.

Best.

I was unsure if he was hired to do this...

Rope tricks are usually very effective for smaller crowds, there are tons of books out there on rope tricks, or pick up something like Professor's Nightmare if you need it quickly, but I'd highly recommend researching it.
