Powerful Basics

i've been doin magic since i was 16 years old, and this is what i have noticed. when i first started magic, i knew a lot of magic...(A LOT in a way that i perform these tricks even though ive not practiced enough for it.) the magic itself, i got, but i never performed it magically for the reactions of the spectator to be spectacular. as i got into magic more and more, i realized that the magic/sleights of the Magic is not on the secrets itself but on how you deliver it. even the most basic tricks could get an impact(e.g key card, the first magic i knew) compared to high class magic that is performed without proper presentation.
i tried and experiment, i performed mentalism with cards( using DL's as revelation) one performance is that i just revealed the card just like that. without any "spunk". then the other one, i revealed with a little presentation. i got powerful reactions on my second performance. bottom line is that, it doesnt matter how many magic you have or how basic your tricks are, it's all about presentation. with proper delivery, basics can be so powerful..:)

Benot,

I could not agree with you more. I do a very simple "Pick a Card" effect and blow people away. The main reason is plain and simple I present it in such a very strong way. A great example of this is like you said the "Key Card" no matter how simple we find it, layman can not understand how it works.

I agree also, at one point i was all caught up in fancy moves, fancy color changes.
But after watching unseen footages of DB again and the mileage he gets out of his double lifts, I can't help myself but do such simple tricks, and get huge reactions.

Honestly, the best color change is a double lift, where you then place in the specs hand and have them reveal the change.
