So before I even got into magic, I saw a video by DisturbReality teaching a trick called Pulse. Though I have long since abandoned his channel (because A. His videos aren't even good or correct most of the time, and B. He falls under the category of Exposers out there, not to mention C. I found almost nothing on his channel useful, even before I started magic) I didn't even know what exposure was at the time, in fact, I don't even think I owned a deck of cards.
However, this trick "Pulse", if that is even it's name, was actually one of my favorites to perform when I started doing a couple car tricks for friends. Essentially (I'm trying not to expose, the spectator selects a card & returns it to the pack (the deck can be shuffled by you). You then spread the cards face up on a table. (The next part is just performance) You then take the spectator's hand, and have them hold out there first finger. You say that you will use there pulse to find there card. As you move their hand back and forth, you slowly narrow it down to one card and drop there finger onto the selected card.
I don't think it'll be to bad if I tell you that the principal for why this trick works is the same reason we can unlock hotel room doors. I can't get much more specific than that
Does anyone know what the trick is actually called, and what book it is from? I don't perform it any more because I feel guilty
