Pure sleight of hand?

I have recently lost my touch with cards, I havent been using them as much, and I want to dive into some pure sleight of hand. So does anyone have a good book that has some hard core sleight of hand, that will make me feel awesome when I do it?

Thanks,
J.

Im having the same problem with cards, learning a lot and trying to find the perfect routine with all the stuff i know. Pick up the best ones and that lead me into the other.

I have been thinking moving to cups and balls, always a classic and really good at mastering sleight of hand, character, and missdirection

I would check out Paper Engine by Aaron Fisher. Though I could make a whole list of books that are just for sleight of hand. Expert Card Technique by Hugard and Braue, or maybe Expert at the Card Table by Erdnase.

Sleight of Hand?...I suggest Dai Vernon's Book or Magic. Its a classic book and its pretty old, but it is Dai Vernon's most complete book, and it covers items from cards to cups and balls, plus it has the Vernon's Touch in Chapter1 or 2( I forgot...Sorry)...When you want sleight of hand stuff, I recommend this book... Hope this helps :)

I'd say some good books for purists would be Vernon Book of Magic and Paper Engine as mentioned above. I would also recommend, if you are lookoiong for sleight of hand that makes you feel awesome, either By Forces Unseen by Stephen Minch/Ernest Earick, or Steranko on card by Jim Steranko. Or, if you are looking for purely sleight of hand, Andrus card control has some crazy moves in it.

Sleight of Hand by Edwin Sachs could be worth checking into.

If you can track down The Amateur Magicians Handbook by Henry Hay it's also a good book full of general sleight of hand.

If you wanted cards specifically then some of the suggestions above may be your best bet. I'm not into to many heavy card sleights so I wouldn't know exactly where to look.

im pretty sure he wrote multiple books.

You're wrong. And Dan was right, the Erdnase joke is starting to get real old.. It was funny a few times that week but now it's lost it's charm.

And you can't prove Erdnase was a "he". It could've been a "we" (even though we was commonly used to reference one person at the time, hence, the multiple person hints scattered throughout it's pages), or maybe even a "she".

But no, Erdnase only wrote one book. Which is why some of the greatest sleight of hand is in there, page after page...

Unless he wrote another book around the same time under a different name. But I'm sure people would've realized in the intervening century since EATCT was published if another book was published by Erdnase under a different name.

Yeah Erdnase only wrote EATCT, although depending on who you believe Erdnase was it could be different. Most believe he was just a good card hustler, but Juan Tamariz believes he was L'Homme Masque, who was a Peruvian magician, who I think wrote other books. But there was only one book published under the name Erdnase.

And J., my avatar is hand mucking by George Joseph. It's mostly demonstration mucks but its the basic teaching on hand mucking.

There are rumours that James Harto and Erdnase were working on a sequel to EATCT, but there's no concrete proof. Theo Hardison's book Poker, uses phrases taken directly from the book, so it's possible to speculate that this was the proposed sequel. However, EATCT is the only book definitely written by "Erdnase", whoever he was.

L'Homme Masque didn't write any books, but some of his tricks were published in Magic Without Apparatus.
