Hey there,
in order to pass the entry exam i need to answer a couple of questions regarding magic theory. Although I researched most questions, there questions where I didnt find a good, trustworthy answer or some answers contradicted itself. Although some questions are partly clear they still need some refinement.
1. In which ways/areas can/should the magician develop himself in order to be successful in magic?
2. Which possibilities has the magician to develop himself? (Seems like Q1&Q2 are the same. I dont know how to answer both of them differently.)
3. What are important points to consider when one does magic with animals?
4. What should one specifically consider when tablehopping? (Although I have a lot of ideas here I dont know what they want specifically as an answer.)
5. What should one specifically consider with audience participants on the stage? (Maybe clear instructions, no offending, being nice, ...?)
6. How does Black Magic exactly distinguish itself from the art of magic?
7. What is the worlds oldest magic book? When, by whom and why was it written?
Although it seems that the answers are clear to you and easil searchable ( e.g. last question: I got some things about a book by Scot: Discovery of Witchcraft but others are claiming the old Greeks and Romans had some books in this direction too snd now I dont know what was the first real book on magic), I didnt find a 100 percebt compelling, exact answer. Thank you for your help. It means a lot to me.
Cheers
Philipp

For the most part i think if you just spend some time thinking about them you'll find your answers. my first impressions are
1.performance, way more important than actually tricks (although entirely less fun to work on)
2. doesn't make any sense to me...
3.animal cruelty, i absolutely refuse to do any magic with animals.
4. instant reset and strong magic since you only have a couple minutes
5. to make them the star and not embarrass them (unless it's in your character to do so)
6. no idea
7. i also believe it's the discovery of witch craft.

Best of luck!

@Ziggy
The boss of he magic circle encouraged me ask these questions. If I dont find some answers I can just ask him. I thought with all these knowledgable magicians could help me first.
@AnthonyL Thanks buddy.

I can fill in the Black Magic question for you. Black Magic, in performance terms, is when a performer (or quite often a group of performers) wear blackout suits (body stockings or some other covering clothing that's black) on a stage that's lit only by black-lights. The props and some costume pieces are neon colors. Using this principle, various visual effects can easily be created, such as outfits and clothing items walking/moving around on their own or floating about the stage.

The best and only example I've ever seen in person was a magical burlesque routine done by Charlotte Pendragon during a show in 2006 back when the Pendragons were still a couple. She came out in a loud, beachy outfit with a hat, boa, sunglasses, etc. Some swanky music started playing and she began to do a burlesque dance and disrobe, her clothes floating off-stage eerily as she went. Because of the lighting and blackout suit, the dance had the visual effect of an invisible woman doing a strip tease. The more clothes came off, the less visible she was until eventually a pair of high heels just sauntered off the stage. It was an extremely amusing bit of magic and highly compelling to watch, and it was all done using this principle.

I believe I've heard it referred to as both, but if they're not talking about the blacklight thing here then I have no idea what Black Magic refers to other than dark witchcraft :/
