try to have instrumentals and not music with lyrics(rap has SOME occasions, but most of the time don't really do that)

For flourishes and stuff like that, I like to use techno. For weird, insane effects, I use heavy metal. For simple card effects I use hip-hop. For my color change video I used "The Unforgiven" by Metallica. It's metal, but a beautiful song at the same time. For my Mindbender video, I used "Requiem For A Dream". An orchestral song for an intimate, eerie effect. Just whatever kind of music I think fits the effect, i'll put in with the video.

Try looking on ebay or somewhere for "shadows collide with people" by John Frusciante , it's probably one of the best albums I have and I think a few of the songs may sound good combined with flourishing / magic.
